Music advice

Chris, on August 18, 2017 at 16:53 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
I originally wanted a live violin quartet to play as I walk down the aisle. A traditional Cuban band to play during cocktail which is immediately after the ceremony there are appetizers and cocktails.
The resort just got back to me to advise I get a keyboard player and a saxophone player for the ceremony not violins.
She said during dinner I can have violinists play for one hour while we eat and a live bad for an hour in the evening.I figured after dinner we would want to start the First dance and DJ.
Should I have a Cuban band play during dinner, violists play during dinner or nothing ? I think both violinists and live band would be too much back to back.
What would you recommend .
Need to rethink
Thanks

My advice would be to move dinner to 5:00 and cut the wait between the ceremony and dinner. We're having our ceremony at 3:00, open bar and appetizers at 3:30 when people can mingle and talk, and dinner at 5:00. We have a classical guitarist and wedding singer for the ceremony, guitarist for cocktail hour, and DJ playing soft music during dinner, and then dance music afterward.

No LOL. We are walking down the aisle to Jesu Joy of Man's Desire and Pachel in Cannon D. We wanted violins but part of the wedding package we are paying for has keyboard and sax. This is good since I did not know we had this as part of the package even though I read the package.

I figured the sax and keyboard can play that too but it would have been nicer with violins.

I wanted the cuban local band to play while guests are drinking cava after the ceremony and having appetizers.

Now I do not know how long this Will be. I am having a hard time figuring out what guests can do between 2:45 p.m and 6:30 p.m. as they will be at a resort but will be wearing suits, dresses and it will be 35C. Need to work more on logistical stuff.

Depending upon what music you've chosen, does a saxophone fit into your ceremony? I love the idea of violins during dinner, and a Cuban band during cocktail hour. Sounds like a lot of fun.

This is exactly what I was thinking too . I will have to get more details on why we cannot have any music at the cocktail reception immediately following the ceremony. As dinner may be hard to hear people speaking especially since we have many seniors who are hard of hearing to begin with.

I think that having a band play throughout dinner could make the noise levels increase significantly. People will be already talking and then trying to talk over the band as well. That might be something to keep in mind. I think having too many different types of live music might be distracting as well. I would say pick one and maybe just do it during the cocktail hour.
