Most Likely To Try To Do A Seat Swap

Joey, on October 22, 2018 at 08:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 19

You spent HOURS working on your table assignments, but someone is bound to have a different idea about where they should be seated! Can you see someone swapping their escort card to get on a different table, or ignoring the "Reserved" signs at your ceremony so they can sit closer to the front?

Who is most likely to try to swap their seats?

I could see the children doing a seat swap, but considering the only children at the wedding will be my fiancé and I’s nieces and nephews, they should be able to see the ceremony just fine from the front.

My SIL (my brother’s wife). I can see her trying to get my parents to swap so that they are looking after the grandkids not her and my brother. If anyone is going to ruin my wedding i’m putting money on her.

I will have a very strategic seat layout so if anyone tries to move my mom is in charge of sending them back.

Our officiant and his wife (friends of my husband) asked my MOH to switch. Which was fine, except that instead of just switching people, they told the two people who were at that table to find another seat. So, the one guy pulled up a chair at an already full table instead of finding one of the many empty seats (since 14 people didn't show up!)

Honestly, there's no one who would likely do this.

My aunts - my mom's sisters. If they don't do it before dinner, as soon as everyone's up and mingling afterwards they will all inevitably end up cackling around a table together! They're also the most likely to steal bottles of wine from other tables! 🤣

Everyone sat where they were supposed to, everyone knew the rules

My family. They have very little appreciation of the rules. And I'm hand-selecting everyone's exact seats.

I really hope no one does a seat swap. I will be working through tables with my family to make sure everyone who is seated together will be ok with where they are.

We are not doing assigned seats, just tables, so I am hoping that naturally people will be ok

My grandma would be the most likely to do this but like considering she’s going to be near the front anyway it shouldn’t be problem.

The younger people, the "Oh just come sit with us, we have room".... PFFFFFT....

I think most people will just follow their table assignments though. I even have gone through the trouble of making sure that parents (aunts/uncles) are at least at neighbouring tables to their kids (adult cousins). Our wedding is 19+ so I think for the most part it will be fine. I've made sure that everyone is with someone they know, or would get along with.

I can't see anyone doing this. I'm gonna try my best to place people at tables they would want to sit at. Our ceremony will have the front row reserved for parents and immediate family, everyone else can sit where ever. Also if two people agree to swap places at the reception, It wouldn't bother me.

One cousin in particular, let's call her J. She'll probably try to get closer to her parents, my parents and the head table in general. We'll have extra long tables at our venue, so cousins will be seated on an adjacent table from their parents (my aunts/uncles and my parents make up 1 table!!), but I have a feeling she won't want to sit with my friends or other cousins.

She feels very entitled to being front and centre, for some odd reason.

One of the groomsmens gf..she specifically popped into my head when I read this.. She will be seated with the other significant others of the wedding party but I know she'll try to get closer to the head table to keep an eye on her bf. She is overly concerned about which bridesmaid he may be seated with and walking with and all that. And her wirh her personality it wouldn't surprise me if she somehow managed to end up at a table closer to her bf.

As for the reserved spots at the ceremony I don't think anyone will ignore that.

There is one person who comes to mind... lol my FH's cousin "K" - lets go with that for her name... K has already asked to be in the wedding party like 4 times and she is just... well a loose cannon who likes to party. Very sweet, don't get me wrong - but also careless and wouldn't really think about who it affects until later.
