Mixing faux and real flowers??

Miav, on October 24, 2019 at 17:45 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Has anybody tried mixing faux and real florals in their bouquet? How did it look? We had met a florist that recommended it to save costs and another florist that said it looks horrible as one can clearly tell the difference between faux and real florals when they are side by side. Any suggestions? TIA! Smiley smile

    Hey Miav!

I would imagine that this totally depends on the quality of the faux flowers and material that they are made from. If you are worried about how they will look, perhaps you could employ this method with flowers that will not be close enough to guests to inspect, like decor flowers for your ceremony, but using all fresh flowers for centerpieces.

Would you be able to ask the florist that suggested this to create a sample arrangement to determine exactly what it would look like?

Personally I wouldn't mix in my bouquet but I would find a way to use faux flowers in other aspects of my day. I did a mix and the faux flowers looked SO real but you have to find the right person to do them. My florist does faux flowers all the time in outdoor ceremonies for arches, chuppahs, etc. It's better than doing real flowers, especially outside, because they won't wilt so if she's doing faux she makes sure they look incredible. Do your research!!! I had real flowers for the bouquets and boutonnieres and the centerpiece arrangements on the guest tables, but for the head table, backdrop, and my family tables we did faux.

I would say to go buy a couple of flowers from Michael's and then bring them to the grocery store or something to see what they look like next to live flowers. I would think that you can tell - but not from afar or in pictures? I'm not quite sure... but with my bouquet being all artificial nobody could tell as far as I'm aware.

It seems odd 2 different answers are given as some may know what can be offered to you based on the colours and types of flowers to match. Never give up on what you want and get options to see what it can look with both kinds and prices too. Pass on the florists who don't see your view or try to help.
