Mismatched or the same?!

Liberty, on February 24, 2021 at 22:27 Posted in Wedding fashion 1 20
What are you doing for your bridesmaid dresses? I have always pictured my bridesmaids wearing the exact same dress. They all have similar body times and the dresses I like are fairly simple and would look good on all of them. But now im starting to question that.
Mismatched or the same?! 1
Everyone in the same dress?

Mismatched or the same?! 2
Same colour, different styles?
Mismatched or the same?! 3
Multiple shades with the same dress or different dresses?
I cant decide....

I offered to pay for their dresses and it’ll all be the same color/style ! I showed them which one I chose and they were all happy with it.

That looks so nice! I think I've decided I want all one colour but im still up in the air on same or different styles. There's one style from azazie im super in love with and all 4 of my bridesmaids said they like it and would wear it. So we will see!

Personally, I am letting my bridesmaids choose their own style of dress. I am doing two different colours, sage and blush. So I let the girls choose which colour they wanted. This could work with different shades of a certain colour too. Everyone has different skin tones that looks good with different colours as well. I also like the look of all the same colour though.

Most of my bridesmaids are the same size, but some have bigger hips while others have bigger busts. Everyone has different tastes in styles and different comfort levels. I just asked that my bridesmaids choose a full length dress and show it to me prior to ordering!

My bridesmates are all picking their own outfits - I gave them the wedding colour, a range of tones, and told them to pick something that works for their own budget.

I only have one MOH and I gave her 3 colours to choose from and any dress she wants. I love the mix and match styles. Having people enjoy what they are wearing and being comfortable is so important. I hate the thought of getting someone to buy a dress they'll never wear again.

Thats a good idea! Technically the groomsmen will be in the same shade but he also has a groomswoman who will be wearing a grey dress! Then he wants to wear a different shade of grey. Once we figure out the shades for his suits ill try the collage idea!

Okay, in that case because the groomsmen are also going with different shades, I think limiting the bridesmaids to two shades is a good compromise - not letting the groomsmen stick out in an awkward way, while also not making the look too "all over the place". And yes, same length will tie the look nicely!

I don't know if you can, but I think it may help you to literally save and print pictures of these dress colours and styles you like on azazie and different shades of grey suits and basically make a collage - see that it all looks like literally printed right in front of you?

I thought I wanted blush pink dresses but the blush pink from azazie is soo light so I ordered their next darker/brighter pink which is candy pink but I think that be too bright so im thinking of doing 2 girls in each colour. But then I'm not sure about styles. I think id atleast want similar styles for everyone (like all full length with straps or something)
Also my Fiancé could end up having 3 shades of grey on his side so I'm wondering if having 2 shades of pink would make everything look more cohesive overall

I always thought I'd want an all cohesive look as well, all sage green dresses. However, I recently came across a sea glass colour from Birdy Grey and I'm obsessed! So I think 4 of my bridesmaids will have the sage green colour, slightly different styles, and then two of my closest bridesmaids / maid of honour will be the darker green colour. So all green, but different shades / hues and all different styles (I'm letting them pick the styles that they're comfortable with and will be flattering for their different body types).

Overall, love the mix-matched idea!! Especially as a way to make the maid of honour stand out!

My girls are wearing different colours and styles. I have 8 bridesmaids, I chose three colours and them decide amongst themselves who is wearing what colour and then they chose their style! Two of my girls are wearing the same dress so they’re wearing different colours! The colour scheme is shades of pink so we have a pale pink, mauve and wine!

Being a bridesmaid for one of my friends, she originally wanted us to be wearing the same colour and dress. We quickly found out that wasn't going to work with all our opinions and body types (5 bridesmaids). After a couple appointments, we did same colour different styles.

For my wedding, since I only have 2 bridesmaids, I thought it would be kind of weird if only two people are wearing the same dresses at the wedding. Almost as if they didn't mean to!

I just asked them all to wear a little black dress. Because of covid we didn't have a lot of time to order and couldn't visit stores, but I always liked the idea of a little mismatched.

We are doing same colour + length, different styles. My bridesmaids all have quite different body types so I wanted them all to feel comfortable!

I only have my MOH standing up for me but if I was to have more bridesmaids I would like them to have the same color but different styles. Every body type is different and may not look the same in one certain style.

My bridal party all have vastly different body types so we're doing mismatched dresses. We're even doing different colours because everyone has different shades they feel they look the best in (and I just like how this looks anyway)

I want my friends to feel their best so I'm letting them pick their own style and colour.

We dictated the colour and length but our MOHs could choose the style. They ended up coordinating as well which was helpful

Agree with all of this! I also LOVE the mismatched, yet still flowing together, look. The matchy matchy look is definitely not for me... Reminds me of children for some reason (my flower girls/niece's match only but that was more by fluke they loved the same dress). My bridal party was thrilled to be able to choose how to spend their money (with some guidelines) and choose styles they would actually wear again! They feel comfortable in what they chose and that's so important.

I always advocate for letting the party choose the style. Even if they have similar bodies, each girl could have different ideas on what's comfortable for them or what looks good on them. Not to mention dresses come at different price points and allowing them to pick can empower them to purchase at a budget they're comfortable with.

I didn’t have any bridesmaids but I personally prefer same colour, fabric, and length but different styles. I think it adds some interest and each person can choose what makes them most comfortable, but it still keeps the overall look cohesive.
