Mini-moons

Breanne, on March 1, 2018 at 15:55 Posted in Honeymoon 0 18

Hi all,

Just thought I would start a discussion on mini-moons (a little vacation after the wedding but not technically the honeymoon). I find they are becoming more and more popular and wanted to see if anyone else is having one and holding off on the honeymoon.

My FH and I have decided to wait for our honeymoon since we are getting married in August and that's not a great travel time for the locations we're considering. Just so we can get away for a bit after the wedding, we've decided to go to Nashville for 4-5 days! We've always wanted to go and this seems like the perfect time. Since we're paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves we want to take a bit of time to save up for the honeymoon and go somewhere big (Greece, Spain, Bali etc) - likely going next spring, but this way we can still get away for a few days as husband and wife. I have a few friends that have also done the mimi-moon and gone places like Montreal, the East Coast, New York etc.

Are you planning on having a mini-moon? If so, where are you going? How long are you planning to wait to go on your honeymoon and where do you want to go?

We are also doing a mini honeymoon! We are getting married in Ontario in September and waiting until the following January to take our big honeymoon to HAWAII!! We just decided last night to go to Portland Oregon for 4 nights the weekend after our wedding just to take a sigh of relief and enjoy being newlyweds! Great idea in my opinion Smiley smile

We didn't really plan to have a mini moon but Thanksgiving was the weekend after our wedding this year so we got away with some friends and family for a relaxing weekend. We are leaving at the end of this month for our honeymoon in Bali.

Might have a mini-moon either to Niagara Falls or Ottawa - we're getting married in August this year. My fiance really wants to go to Japan, and I have always wanted to do an Olympic trip so we're (trying) to plan our big honeymoon for summer 2020 and go to Tokyo!

Mini moons are the way to go! My fiance and I are on a road trip through the BC rockies. We are going as far as Canmore, AB. We do plan on doing an actual honeymoon but with our wedding in August we decided to wait until maybe late fall to book it.

Mini-moons all the way! We're doing a mini-moon to PEI to spend a few days on the beach and having our actual honeymoon a month or so later before I go back to school Smiley smile

Omg Pillar and Post!! It’s the best. They have a lot of great packages. Also a hot springs, pool and a wonderful spa! It’s cheaper to go on week nights. Or One of the other vintage hotels.

Curious if there is an inn that you recommend? My fiancé and I are also doing a mini-moon to Niagara on the lake.

That sounds awesome! One of my bridesmaids had a November wedding and didn't want to take off too much time right next to the holidays, so they did a mini-moon at a gorgeous nearby B&B then went to Fiji 4 months later!

I would love to do a mini moon but as the week after my wedding is Black Friday/cyber Monday as well as my birthday and my sister’s birthday it’s really not an ideal time. I’ll struggle to get time off work for the wedding with it being blackout period so I don’t want to take a load of time off. Just a couple days before and after.

We're doing something similar to this! We're staying at the hotel we're getting married at (Caesar's Windsor) for two nights after the wedding. The biggest reason is because we don't have anywhere else to stay (unless we stay at the in-laws), and that way we can enjoy our first two days as husband and wife lounging in a nice hotel and casino.

We're taking our honeymoon during the summer, 4 months after the wedding, since we both have the time off.

We want to go for an East coast road trip summer 2019 as our honeymoon. We are getting married this November and I knew I would want a few days off together after the wedding before going back to work. We decided to do a mini moon in Niagara on the lake, enjoy a small B&B, wineries and just relax. So looking forward to everything coming up!!

We are also considering a mini-moon, which would allow us to save for a bigger/longer trip at a later date. There’s also the fact that I can’t take more than 5 business days off of work between January and May, so it’s hard for us to make it worthwhile.

We're considering a mini-moon right after the wedding, then doing a bigger honeymoon in early 2019 as it fits our budget and his work schedule better. Not sure where we're going yet! Possibilities are Harrison Hot Springs or Vegas for the mini, then a cruise somewhere warm in February 2019 for the main honeymoon.

We're doing a mini-moon! We had planned to go away for 10 days but with some unexpected expenses, we couldn't afford the tropical honeymoon anymore. So, we are going to Jasper, Banff, other interesting places around that area. We are still going away for 10 days and then in the winter (probably 2019) we will take off for a 10-day tropical location honeymoon!

    We're doing a very mini-mini-moon.

We'll be getting married in July, and for the two nights after will stay at the Ritz in Downtown Toronto. It's less than an hour drive from our venue, so not really going anywhere and we managed save up points from our credit card for a free stay at the hotel! The goal for us was to have a few 'holiday' days but with very little spend.

We're going on our honeymoon in September, so only 2 months later. We picked this month as we don't like travelling during the summer months and hot weather here plus the destination we're going to (Indonesia) is a bit better climate wise in September.

We are considering a mini-moon. Not sure where to but with us moving across the country this month, and him starting a big job we just won't be able to get the time or possibly the money to book a full honey moon just yet. And Nashville is a great choice! My dad lives near there and I absolutely love it there. For our real honey moon in thinking maybe Belize or Bali, love both those but can't decide! I could definitely do like a warm state for a mini moon.
