Menu for Interracial Wedding?

Zoë, on August 15, 2018 at 13:01 Posted in Wedding reception 0 4

My FH is Italian and I am (mostly) Chinese. Our venue is most likely going to be in Markham, Ontario, but we have not picked a venue yet. We are planning on inviting around 150 people I would love to be able to integrate both our cultures' food into our wedding, but I'm not sure how to go about it. A lot of the venues that I have researched tend to pigeon-hole you into using their catering which is a plated sit-down meal with a standard cuisine (steak/salmon/veggie/etc).

Do any of you have any wonderful ideas (or even venue ideas that support this!) for us? Thank you so much, Happy Planning! Smiley kiss

Speaking on behalf of Italians everywhere, I'd say include an antipasto bar during cocktail hour, then do something more Chinese during dinner. I find that "Italian" entrees all tend to be the same, but it's the antipasto bar that really shines.

This sounds delicious! I'll run it by my FH. He really wanted a suckling pig just on a table somewhere so we're also entertaining the idea of stations, and maybe find a caterer that can do different types of cuisines.

There are venues where you don't have to use their own caterer. Community centres, museums, art galleries...basically any place that doesn't serve food.

You could have Italian food at cocktail hour and Chinese as the late night snack (or vice versa) and have the "traditional" dinner. I think even in this case though, you will need a place where you can bring your own food.
