Menu cards

Melanie, on May 19, 2022 at 19:24 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15
Our caterer will be serving dinner buffet style. Are menu cards necessary? Or will signage at the buffet table stating what is what be enough?

I think I might just have one in a general area as a larger sign type thing and call it a day

I feel like you won’t need it! I’ve seen some people put the menu on a frame. One menu per table. And it served as decor. But really, you won’t need it!

Love this discussion as I am going through this now!

We are having buffet style and there will be labels and staff to let the guests know what is what however..........the decor side of me just loves the look of linen textured menu on the table. Also, we are having the plates at the station and not on the table so just a charger plate will be there with a glass, cutley, favor, etc. soooo I think a menu card would help complete it nicely BUT totally not necessary I agree.

Thanks for your reply! 😊 We’re having rectangle tables as well and I didn’t even think of how much space we’ll have with them so thank you for reminding me haha! We’ll definitely be opting out with menus!

No menu cards for our buffet style dinner!

I did want to do because I liked the aesthetic of it but now I’m at the end of wedding planning and it just doesn’t seems important anymore haha!

We’re having rectangle tables and my event designer said to keep its simple since I already have floral garland and votives, those tables get crowded easily! Where as round tables you want to fill up the empty space because they are bigger!

So to sum it up! I don’t think you necessarily need them but if you like the aesthetic of it and want to spend some time making them then go for it! ☺️

Personally, menu cards are the biggest waste of money. Especially when it's part of the RSVP when it's a plated meal (I know this isn't your case). Signage is totally enough. You can always put your menu on your website if you have one.

Even with a regular plated meal, menu cards are a nice to have, not a must have.

We aren't having signage at our buffet at all unless the caterer provides it. But there will also be someone manning the buffet if anyone has any questions

Signage for the dishes are enough as guests will see what is being served in the buffet. A menu card is good to have on the table when its plated service.
