Meal selection service

Amanda, on November 19, 2018 at 10:14 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11
Hi guys!
our wedding is at a restaurant and part of the cost includes a tasting to select our menu. My question is - do we tip them? They're still serving us so it feels odd to not pay them anything but it is covered in our entire wedding cost; so I was thinking do we leave a little cash on the table?

I agree! I would tip but only in cash for the servers!

I would definitely leave a tip for the serving staff. just make sure you have cash so it goes directly to who serves you. you are still being served at the end of the day. and the serving staff may need to still tip out the kitchen (maybe not with it being included).

That's what I was thinking. It's a functioning restaurant so whoever serves us is losing out on serving paying customers. I know our package includes the tasting but people are still making and serving us food... Thank you!!

When we went for our tasting at our first venue we tipped our waitress. Her serving us was taking her time away from other paying tables where she would get a tip. So I felt it was good to do.

And even though we pay a gratuity in our package, we don’t know if that waitress would
get any of that. So again we thought we should.

General contracts with restaurants or venues include gratuity based on the amount being charged. Your leaving more tip on top of what is paid. Truly, it isn't necessary and same with the DJ since his services are purely himself and coming out to do his job as a vendor. This is a package fully paid for and included with everything provided to you.

Although we won't be having a tasting - I wouldn't bother. It's part of the package. Just like how for our DJ we are getting them to DJ at our social first and wedding later. We will prob just pay them the half of what the cost is and then the other half plus the tip at the wedding.

Great question. I hadn’t considered this before but I think I agree with you ladies. I’ll tip on the day of and not the day of the tastings.

Ok thanks. I was thinking the same. It technically is paid for in the package I just wasn't sure it being an actual restaurant and not just a hall.. Thank you!

Wow! I never thought of this actually! I don’t think we will be tipping for ours. It’s part of the package so I don’t believe we will tip for the tasting. We will give a tip to the bartenders and servers on the day though!
