Am I in denial to think I’m still having my wedding in 4 months?

Depends on the # of guests you are okay with having. We postponed twice and originally needed to fulfill our 200 guest count..our wedding is scheduled in the first week of June, 2021 and that guest count is out the window! Hoping its at least 25 people to have our parents and those closest..really closest to us there

You go for it Nadine! Its your day and celebration however you two decide to make it happen. Intimate small wedding is still better than nothing knowing your excited to call your fiancé officially husband once married. The vendors will still get to make the best of your day special as you two.

Your celebration for reception or Vow Renewal can be held back for the full guest list to enjoy for a later date if you have a venue rescheduled and your vendors to still come out for that occasion.

The doctors stated on the news yesterday that we plateaued at mid 3000 cases a day and were now on a downward trend, they also said positivity rate is going down and we are heading toward a 0% growth rate if things keep going this way.

Anything can change, but that's what they said its looking like as of now, which is good news.

Sorry I’m typing this while I’m half asleep I don’t mean that I think COVID is the flu. I just meant things will hopefully improve as warmer weather comes and more vaccines are distributed

We are in what has typically been the flu season for normal times. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to hope for 50 in 4 months. I’m hoping for 50 in 6 months.

Actually, it's not. Though both green and orange have the same gathering limits in terms of number of guests, what you're allowed to do in a green region vs orange is different. In orange, you can't drink after a certain hour, only a max of four people per table, and your gathering limit is for the whole facility, not individual rooms (which means if the venue has multiple halls with multiple events on the same day, only one of you can stay).

Anyway, with the second state of emergency and lock down, they're already talking about changing the regional colour coding system because it was too messy. But I agree, we're likely not seeing pre-covid style weddings in the near foreseeable future. Though that doesn't mean the wedding won't be fun. Just gotta roll with the punches.

Code green is actually the exact same restrictions for weddings as code orange.

2022 weddings will most likely also have a limit of 100 outdoor and/or 50 indoor with no dancing because even if we are all the way in code green in 2022, code green still has these exact restrictions.

I think its safe to say that if you want a wedding with 150 people +, dancing, etc.. basically a pre covid wedding, that wont be happening for years to come because they are not going to abolish the color coded system in 2022.. they will still abide by those restrictions but it will probably just be in code green.

It depends what your definition of your wedding is. If you just want to be married with 2 witnesses then you absolutely can. If you want to have 10-25 guests then I think it's possible but there will most likely be restrictions with masks, no dancing, etc. If you want up to 50 guests I think it's still possible but less likely. If you're looking for more than 50 guests and won't be able to downsize then I'd start looking into postponing. Similarly, if you aren't open to a wedding with restrictions like no dancing and masks I'd look into postponing.

The last year has been so unpredictable and this year there are still a lot of unknowns for 2021. I think the best advice I can give you as someone who got married at basically the height of the second wave in BC is to make several plans and be willing to move on to plan B, C, D, E, or F at any moment.

I have a feeling it may not be the wedding you originally planned, but there is still hope for a wedding! By the spring we will have more vaccines administered and that could change rules about gatherings for the better.

Hey - Its a hard call, and with everything happening... it depends what you both want. We are currently schedule for June 26th, and have reached out to all my vendors to move our date to 2022 June. We just want to be able to do everything we want to do. Indoors, dancing, pre-wedding events. But again, its because we really want certain things, and with restrictions in any colour but green, I am not sure we will get it. BUT, if you are ok with making changes based on the province colour, go for it! Its not easy, the emotions are there. But you have a great community of support no matter what you decide Smiley smile

Im May 8 2021, and im optimistic that we will be in code orange... code red at the worst. which would allow 25 people outside. alot can and will happen in 4 months, especially when we've already been in lockdown since december, and even november for some places.

I do not think however, that there will be dancing. I think it will be similar to what we saw last summer... drinking etc is fine but dancing is a no no unless its bride and groom, father daughter, or mother and son.

My wedding is April 30th, I'm keeping hope that I'll be able to have my 50 person wedding. If we can't have dancing, and drinking till late then we will postpone. So at the moment I'm hopeful that we will be able to go ahead. Life has been depressing enough, holding on to the idea I'll have the wedding I've been planing so hard to have is what's keeping me going.

I agree, I think at this point I definitely would plan for Max 50 guests but I do not think you should give up hope!

I don’t think so, depending on your number of guests and your venue. My husband and I managed to get married October 10, 2020 with 50 guests including us at a winery and it was perfect. I think a lot will change in 4 months. Depending on what your numbers are, be ready to cut down if you have to.
