Marriage license

Sarah, on June 5, 2017 at 22:10 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
How soon in advance should I get the marriage license? I thought as long as it was done a few weeks in advance it was fine but read some things on these boards that made me think differently! Getting married July,22/2017 am I going to have time?

Thanks Katherine! I'm going to have a look into it just to be sure. I didn't even realize it's good for a year here I thought only 3 months 😊

I'll definitely get it sooner than the day before lol! I don't think my nerves could handle that. I just didn't realize there was any potential for a waiting period. Still a few weeks left but I'm thinking maybe the sooner the better lol

I think in Ontario i read that you can get it 90 days before. I would just contact your city council or something to make sure! You should definitely have time. I've known people who got theirs literally day before the wedding but I would not recommend that lol

We will be getting ours two weeks before the wedding since you have to go in person to get it.

Depends on the province... In NB the license is good for 3 months and you get it the day you apply... In NS it is good for a year but I'm not sure if there is a waiting peroid.

It depends on where you're getting married. in SK it's only valid for 3 months, but I think the sooner you can get it the better! we are going tomorrow to get it, which is just under three months, where as my cousin waiting until a month before.
