Marriage license

I had no idea the prices varied in Ontario so much from one region to another. Nova Scotia has one set price as far as I know no matter where you get it from. Sounds like it is definitely worth a little travel, especially if you make a bit of a vacay out of it too.

If your researching and will to go the distance for a cheaper price. The simcoe county has different ranges with taxes added on top. The lowest i found was Angus for $100 flat fee. It wasn't far of a drive which was was a good thing.

I think you can get it anywhere! In my hometown it’s only $57!

I got it in Amhertsburg! I just checked again and it was about $20 dollars cheaper (117 in Amhertsburg versus 135 in Windsor). Might be worth the drive to save a little money.

I purchased mine in a smaller town to get married in Windsor where it was about $30 more expensive. Anywhere to save money! As long as you buy it in Ontario, you can get married in any city.

Thunder Bay is only $100, which is the same as Strathroy/Caradoc, so I will probably just get it here and save $30!

I had no idea that marriage license fees vary! I live in Thunder Bay but getting married in London (where I frequently visit) so I wonder where it would be cheaper. I don't think it matters where you get it, as long as it's in Ontario.

Wow! I had no idea. It's definitely giving me something to think about when getting my marriage liscense.

Ottawa is one of the most expensive (if not THE highest) in Ontario at $161.50! I definitely plan on going to one of the neighbouring muncipalities. There's one an hour away that's $100 - the drive sucks but for $60 it's worth it.

You can definitely go wherever you would like within the province just be sure to check when you book the appointment because some places have a non-resident fee. I don't think many do, but I've seen a couple.

Toronto/York Region is $140 for marriage license.

That's so odd how the prices vary by area! What price differences have you seen?

The licence is by province, not city, so you should be good to go! They might question why you are getting your licence there when you don't live there, but I doubt they will refuse to give you a marriage licence.

I think you can go anywhere to get it. Not sure if the prices are different at different places, but I can't see them denying you because you don't live in the area.
