Hey Everyone!
Just wondering if anyone has ever had a family member marry them? Pros cons? Any thoughts would be great!

As long as they are recognized as a legal officiant by the province in which you are getting married it shouldn't be a problem. We had our friend officiate our wedding and had a legal officiant witness the ceremony and make the pronouncement and sign the papers with us. That was enough for it to be considered legal.

I haven't! But it sounds amazing! A ceremony with that much love behind it!

It would all depend on the legality of them marrying you. If they aren't a registered/recognized officiant in the jurisdiction you're getting married in, then it wouldn't be a legally recognized wedding (i.e. you wouldn't be married).

I know of people who got officially (i.e. legally) married prior to the wedding and then had a family member perform the marriage ceremony.
