Make-up and hair for the big day

OOOHHH I know my friend gets them done all the time! Great thinking. I'm going to start hunting down groupons now LOL

I was saying on another thread, I am AWFUL at putting on false eyelashes. I was going to make my best friend do it, but there are a couple of other options. 1 is lash extensions, if that interests you. Its pricy at around $100 with a groupon, but they last for days and you don't have to worry about them falling off on the big day. 2 is if you guy to somewhere like MAC or Sephora, and buy false eyelashes, they'll apply them for you. I've pretty much decided on lash extensions. They're way more secure on your face for a long and sweaty day, and they'll hang around if you're headed on a honeymoon, and they're still way cheaper than hiring someone. and you can do them a couple days before so you aren't messing around with eyelash glue on the big day.

That's what I thought!!! LOL I'm wondering if one of my bridesmaids can curl my hair on that day. Make-up, I'm not used to using eye shadows and false eyelashes. So even choosing to just go with a MUA will be budget-friendly

$750 for hair and makeup for one person? that's insane. i plan to do my own makeup and probably my own hair with my mother's help. i'm pretty handy with a hair curler. that said, i've seen around $200 for both, which still seems like a lot if you can do it yourself...

OMG!!! That is very close to what I want to get done for my day LOL I just chopped my hair really short and I think within a year i wouldn't have enough hair to do an updo so thought about curling my hair short and putting it up with one side with a hairpiece. Ok now I GOTTA find a place that can do their magic for less than what I was quoted for! > thanks for sharing!!

I'm doing my own makeup. Hair will be $30. No trials. I like to live dangerously !Where I live makeup costs $40 at a local spa

Try not to go for the big salons, they obviously charge you more. I am paying $150 for hair and makeup and the company comes to my house.
Try to look for companies that won't charge more just for a wedding. That is actually the motto of the company I booked with!

nope, I told them what I had for my hair and makeup and they worked within those prices. if they couldn't work with the Budget I set, I moved on to the next person. Sometimes you have to do a lot of back and forth with some vendors in order to get what you want for your day. You have to be strong and strict in what you want.

I set my hair 150.00$ and my make up for me and MH 150.00$ just to keep the price at a minimum. Most place will work within what you have set for a budget,

Just remember as soon as you say a wedding , the price of everything goes up a lot. We set our Budget for 2500.00$. Make a budget and stick to it. It will be hard to do, yet it can be done.Good Luck with your planning, WW is a great place for all kinds of help.

Yes! I am in GTA and my venue is in Etobicoke. So travel fee wise I think I'll be covered if GTA is covered.

So I have received a few quotations already and I have all variety including two extreme from low to high. One vendor quoted $750 for hair and make-up for bride only, not including the touch up services. One vendor quoted $250 for make up and hair but in-studio only. I don't think i'm quite satisfied yet with what I found so far but am planning to get a trial done and see how it will show. So the search continues!

I'll let you know as well if I find anything else with good prices and good services within Toronto

She seemed to be, she is very go with the flow... I've had my make-up done professionally twice without trial... I was happy with one but not the other... Its not that she did a bad job but I don't look like myself in the photos.

I have been looking in Toronto as well....sorry from your profile im assuming your looking in the GTA... are you looking for a mobile service? I found the same with booking i cant believe how quickly they book up....i thought maybe 6 months.
I budgeted 500 for both hair and makeup thinking i was being way to generous...i have been quoted anywhere from 85 to 200 per service. My two favs so far all dolled up and fancy face. As i also have no experience so if im going to wear it i want it done right and natural. But i am still looking as well...
As for touch up...it depends on how long in between your ceremony and reception and how possibly how heavy you go...but i would talk to them and see which products they use on lips and eyes which is discussed during trial and maybe buy one or two products yourself to have in your emerg kit for your own on the go touch ups
As for trials....they are not very much cheaper i have found....which blows....so i recommend maybe doing your trial a day you do a fitting or engagment pics so you can it show off!!

Were your sister happy with the make-up she received without a trial?

One of my bridesmaids is doing ours... I think my sister paid $60 to get hers done, no trial but I would think that would be cheaper... Here is a link I found helpful.
