Make it stop!! What wedding questions are you sick of hearing?

Lynnie, on February 8, 2019 at 13:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 27

A long engagement gives you tons of time to plan and book the very best wedding vendors! But unfortunately it means you'll be fielding questions about your wedding foooorrrreverrrr! Smiley laugh

Is there a certain wedding question you keep getting asked that is driving you nuts? Or a specific person (*cough cough* mom) who keeps asking you a billion questions? What questions about your wedding are you sick of hearing?

How's planning going? are you excited?

I don't care to live, breathe, bleed my wedding. Yes I am excited but I am sick of being asked this by the same people all the time. Of course I am excited, but I still don't need to talk about it all the time and I am not going to sit there and detail every single part of planning... if someone else did that every time I saw them I would be bored.

We have been together 10 years and engaged for 7 lol we keep getting the what took so long to finally start planning? We have raised a blended family together, focused on paying of our debts (should be 100% debt free by May!!) oh and we are planning a wedding where we are paying cash for everything.Weddings aren’t cheap! We don’t want to have any debt going into our marriage so yes it’s taken sometime to get going lol.

The date is set and we are fully on track so I’m happy!

When we first got engaged, it was all the little details. We had talked about a lot before he proposed but when we announced the engagement, people asked the questions I didn’t even think about haha. Now it’s hardly been a month and my mother is bombarding me with “the date”.

HAHA I was going to say, in the month leading up to the wedding literally EVERYONE asked me, "So are you getting excited?" ... After person number 1 and 2, sure... but by number 12, 15, 20... NO, and STOP REMINDING ME IT'S SO SOON! I'm NOT DONE!...

But Peggy you're so right. It's when people ask, "So are you all ready?" "Is everything ready to go?" ... GEEZ noooo. And it won't be til the day of.... LOL.

Ugh people are always asking how much something is costing! It's like, mind your own business! I'm getting that a lot from friends who are not married, my married friends seem to know better than to ask that lol.

I am about 82 days out from the wedding, and now the question I am getting ALL THE BLOODY TIME is 'So, are you all done with the planning?'.

Ugh, yes Sharon - I have fully finished planning the biggest party of my life three months in advance and I have nothing left to do! How did you know?!

OMG! I hate when people ask HOW MUCH SOMETHING COSTS, not because they want to know for their own wedding (none of the people asking are getting married / already married / older relatives).. they’re just bein super nosy! Or another question is... why are you doing that? Should do it a certain way.. etc. Excuse me!! My wedding, thank you!! Lol..

For me it’s the question about how he proposed. It was so spontaneous, to me it was romantic, but the full story isn’t appropriate for all ears and the half story seems really unromantic lol. So it’s not exciting or some big gesture everyone wants to hear... I feel like I gotta pull some “Ross and Rachel” and make up some huge story to have them look at me normally lol

It’s a complicated question for us, but it’s obviously the first thing people ask lol

YES!! We both feel this way yet both of our parents are telling us this all the time.. Then contradict themselves a second later saying but do what you want to do, (They just need us to know it’ll cause them grief from their siblings who we aren’t close with... GAWWWHHHH!)

How’s wedding planning going instead of how am I? I feel like all talks are always wedding related. It kinda gets annoying.

It was "have you set a date?" because people were asking in the same conversation as hey we're engaged! Can you give us 5 minutes!? 😂

Now it's what's your colour scheme? I'm trying to ditch flowers and may have a moh but that's it. I've already told her to wear what she wants as long as she feels fabulous in it. So I haven't necessarily picked a colour scheme. It's not going to be clashy but definitely eclectic.

Hahaha we did the same thing.

It has a capacity for 120 guests, but we want to be comfortable and have enough room for a spacious dance floor...so we're capping it at 100 guests.

There's one question, my FH and I, are just sick of getting from our parents :

"I know we've talked about this but, are you sure you can't invite x, y, z? I have to deal with the drama, bla bla bla"

Ugh. NO, we're not inviting them, our wedding isn't a pageant or family reunion. If you want to see them, invite them over for dinner. Smiley xd

I haven’t come across any single question that was too taxing, but my mom loves to ask about small details I myself haven’t thought out yet (I can’t think of one off the top of my head but they exist)!
I’m sure there will be more annoying questions when the wedding gets closer!

Most of my FHs family saw us for the first time after the engagement at our cousins wedding. And we were fielding all types of questions at her wedding (when is your wedding, where is it? Etc.) and I felt so awkward because I didn’t want our engagement to take away from his cousins day! The questions didn’t bother me so much as when they were being asked.

She is the loveliest person and was just as excited for us as we were for her!

What I have been getting asked the most so far, and it's been from the same person has been "Are you having a registry?" and then when i say no it's something along the lines of "Oh you have to have a registry."

    "What is the website again"

Um, please refer to either the Save the Date OR the Invitation, which both have the wedding website written on them, for your convenience.

I’m fascinated at how tech savvy guests email/text to ask info that’s clearly ON THE WEBSITE. (What’s the address? Are there hotel discounts? How much will the flight cost?)

This past week we’ve also experienced guests asking my mother questions. This is particularly taxing bc we have a “how to contact us” section on the website, that doesn’t list my parents.

Finally, I’ve been asked the weather for that time of year. I meannnn in the time it took you to text me you could have easily have googled it, no? 🤦🏾‍♀️

I know that when I first got engaged the question that was annoying me was everybody asking "Soooooo, when's the big day?????"... like, damn.... can we be happy about the engagement for a little bit first??? Besides - who has a venue picked out that fast!!

Other than that one, I don't think there are any that bother me. I love to gush about my wedding!
