Lunch reception

Eunice, on March 27, 2022 at 17:45 Posted in Plan a wedding 2 17
Hi everyone! I am just wondering if there are people who have done a lunch reception before and how they felt about it in the end?

It’s not exactly the food it’s the timing for lunch. I know most are around until 3 pm but I wanted it to extend at least 4 pm. Because it’s a lunch it’s only a restaurant venue that I’m looking for

I’m surprised that you’re not able to find one in Mississauga. What kind of food are you looking for?

Oh yes, that’s a perfect idea then. Once both of you are on the same page and it’s within budget. That’ll work great!

My hubby and I had about 55 guests at our wedding as well. We wanted it small and thought about the finances.
Do you have any place in mind?

Hi Tunisha! Right now I got 65 people. My SO is in the same page with me. Though we did both want a big wedding but financially we’re not able to afford

    Hello Eunice,
That sounds pretty lovely and intimate. How many people are you planning to have with this choice? How you do your SO personally feel about it?

Lunch Reception sounds great to have for your after celebration with everyone. You can have the whole restaurant out to yourselves since the number of guests would seat all of them. You can consider a portion of Mandarin to host your reception. A nice atmosphere for everyone to enjoy and sit back taking the time to have fun.

Like I said I didn't go but my mom was quite impressed with less is more. She loved being able to talk to people she said you didn't feel so uptight. It was just a nice time. She said it is definitely something I should think about. Unfortunately we were already locked into what we originally planned but I do wish I could go back in time and do the lunch and casual wedding....

I talked to my mom about having a lunch/microwedding while covid was crazy and we had to reschedule. She went to one and said it was one of her favourite weddings. Like Hank said the relaxed vibe made it very special and remembered.

Is the restaurant reservation a hard start at noon? I would push to 12:30pm if you can, just to give yourself some buffer room. Most ceremonies don't start on time and even if yours do, it'll give you an extra half hour for things like photos at the altar. That would ease any anxieties if you're worried about a time crunch.

3 hours is not bad for a reception. When is your ceremony and how far is it from the restaurant?

Thank you for your reply Hank! I have my wedding this year and decided to do a lunch reception in a restaurant with 60-65 people. The only thing is the time crunch with lunch receptions from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm

I've attended a Sunday brunch reception. It's a different vibe to an evening event. People felt more free to kind of roam around and have conversation with one another instead of being stuck to their table. People also drank less. The music wasn't as loud and some people were dancing but it was much more casual. No one felt the need to have a packed dance floor for it to be considered a good party. The couple told us they felt MUCH more relaxed and not pressured to be ON constantly. If you have guests with babies or kids, they're much less fussy.
