Lost and confused

Trenna, on July 17, 2018 at 13:15 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4
Ladies, I am stressing out our wedding is in 31 days and literally nothing is planned... I'll admit we are both "slackers" when it comes to planning and preparing I don't even have my dress yet or any of the other ladies. Our budget is extremely small but I'm worried I wont pull it all off and something will become a huge disaster :/

Hey Trenna! Remain calm! Everything will be okay Smiley smile

Would you be able to tell us what you have done so far? Do you have a venue? Have you sent out your invitations? This will help us guide you towards what you can do to bring everything together.

Okay... Express planning... it's all good! It can be done... but I suggest you make a list (just random at first, everything you need to get done) and then re-write it in priority sequence: most important things, things that take the longest, etc.

For the dress, I would go to a local store (David's Bridal is great for a deal and off-the-rack) and get your dress this weekend... or a day you have off. It can even be a regular white dress from any "fancier" store (Le Chateau, The Bay, etc) You may still want alterations done, so you should leave yourself a couple weeks for that...

Make sure the #1 thing you get RIGHT NOW: Your marriage license. Also, find an officiant. If you don't already have one, here is the New Brunswick Officiant List, by city.

Figure out if you want any food... you can pre-order inexpensive platters of sandwiches, deli meats, fruits and vegetables from somewhere like Costco.

I would take your girls to a regular store... Even something as simple as Bootlegger (I was there this weekend and they have a big sale on, 40% off dresses & skirts)... they have some adorable floral dresses/rompers right now. Or any regular store where they can find something inexpensive, but will have all their sizes in stock (or can easily be brought in from another store).

The other details are secondary... Once your essentials are done, you can ask for help from your bridal party or family.

We are always all here to help with guidance/advice/ideas as well!

When you say "nothing" do you legitimately mean "nothing" is done?

If you truly mean that absolutely nothing has been planned - no venue, no caterer and no invitations - then I would strongly consider rescheduling to a later date. You are highly unlikely to get a venue or caterer at this point, and August is such a busy time of year that many of your guests are probably already booked up for the rest of the summer so your decline rate will probably be very high.

If by "nothing" you mean things like decor, favours, dress, suits, etc I think it is doable to get all that done in time - you just need to focus your energy and prioritize. First thing out of that list of item I would want checked off is the dress, and it will make everything easier for everyone involved if you give your bridal party a colour and let them just go out and pick their own dresses at this point.

DON'T FREAK OUT! It will all be fine. First things first make a list of everything that you will need. Must haves are: Venue, Officiant, and Food. Everything else is great but you need these. I recommend using the list that wedding wire gives as well. Pick one thing to do per day. Once you have the venue then if you haven't already make some invites and send them out - I recommend for budget reasons as well as time efficiency that you do them online. Take it one step at a time. Once you have those three things I would say go to any store for any white dress or see if you can get something off the sample rack for a discounted price/ maybe a used wedding dress so that it is not only cheaper but you will most likely not be able to order anything at this point. Also call on your wedding party if you have one to start helping out and delegate tasks. Let them do some research and come back to you with pricing and pictures for you to make the final decisions. It may be hectic but it is possible. Just remember that this community is here for you and will help the best that we can with our own recommendations and ideas!
