Looking for a DJ

Hank, on February 18, 2020 at 13:08 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14

How do you all go about looking for a DJ? Our venue doesn't have a preferred DJ and unlike visual vendors like photography and decor where you can get a sense and glimpse of their work with ease, we're finding that to be tough with a DJ.

For those of you in venues with no in-house audio visual equipment, are you looking for the DJ company to supply everything or do you book an AV company and DJ separately?

I found my DJ on wedding wire I just scroll through them saw who had deals and what would fit in our budget and if it included the whole package then I went through the list of them checked out reviews check out their social media pages and ended finding one I felt fit for us.

I agree Vinod..I found more vendors on Kijiji and very happy so far! We will see how it will be on wedding daySmiley smile)) And much easier negotiate the price. Smiley smile Sine there is people, who give service, but they dont have office, so they work from home. Their home is their studio.

Sometimes the speakers are really large and the DJ's booth might be quite noticeable, but this company has tall and slim speakers and their booth is understated in the corner. They make it very professional looking!

What do you mean they're discreet about it?

Our DJ is one of the preferred vendors for our venue, we could have hired anyone but we really liked this particular company and they worked great with our budget!!! If you're interested, their name is Mobile Productions, and they're amazinggggg!!!!!! And they are going to provide the audio equipment as far as I understand, and they're very discreet about it!

I mean, you could always call up or message those people and ask them how they went about finding their DJ and if they had a big selling point? I know if I had somebody ask me I would have no problem them using the same DJ if I liked the DJ enough to recommend.

We had to pay an extra fee for that. Its so someone from the AV company can come "watch" the DJ basically lol we were super unhappy but the DJ was non negotiable for my FH.

I would ask if they have any videos from past events or if they have anything coming up that you can attend.

You can also post to local Facebook bridal groups for recommendations or opinions on certain ones.

We have other weddings to attend. I suppose I could wait it out and see them in action then but I'm also afraid their availability will be wiped out with other bookings by that point.

I'm surprised you were allowed to bring in an external DJ and use the in-house AV! Majority of venues I've talked to allowed external DJ companies but they would not be able to touch any of the sound system or screens in the room, which are reserved only for preferred DJs.

Prior to us booking with a family friend who DJ's we were just attending Wedding Socials and seeing what others used and how good we found them to be. Do you have any socials (or buck/doe things) coming up that you could attend (do they have DJ's for those?)?

We're using a DJ that my FH watched DJ many times at many events while he was a bartender in his younger days. It was important for us that this DJ be able to play english music (regular music from the radio) and disco polo (polish electronic music - which is popular with my FH's family).

Our venue actually had us pay an AV company - we had no choice but to use them. One gripe that I have with my venue actually. So we're paying for DJ and AV. The AV costs more than our DJ LOL.

Looking for professional vendors can cost a lot and be expensive out there now a days. Kijiji site is helpful to get good DJ at a lower price and a discount if they show a code or percentage mentioning the site. That is the way I found my photographer and DJ. Any questions/inquiries can be asked by them and verify they are certified as I was notified with a proof to email to you.
