Long engagement: what did you do?

Lydia, on February 6, 2018 at 13:11 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 17
Hi all!

I'm curious to know for the people with a long engagement what you guys already arrangened before you reached the "one year till the wedding"-mark.
Or for others; what did you wish you had done when you still had tons of time (like; more than a year?)

I got engaged April/2016 and getting married June/2018. Very long engagement. I had nearly everything done by the end of 2016. In April/2017 I got my dress and then I got accepted into nursing school so we waited until this last January to finish up. Don't let anyone tell you to "wait". plan however and whenever you want.

We will have about a 2 year engagement. Engaged nov 24, 2017, wedding nov 16, 2019.

I've already booked venue (catering included), hair and makeup (my roomie's friend so was an easy connection), DJ (coworker of my dad, so again, easy connection), photographer (friend's brother who i LOVED and knew i wanted to dibs for my day), and accommodations (included in venue).

We also had an engagement party on January 20, 2018.

We got engaged March 2017, by May we had our venue and date booked and will be married May 2019. It’s been amazing! We have 472 days till the wedding and we already have our photographer, videographer, officiant, DJ, caterer, hotel accommodations for us and the guests, dress appointment, centrepieces, decorations, stationary, wedding party, readings, music, gifts, registry, wedding website, guest list and the bachelor and bachelorette all
figured out. All of this has let us spend 2018 focusing on organizing the stag and doe as well as the bridal party and the rest of this year will be about the small little decisions and doing fittings and trials. I honestly don’t know how I would survive this year without all that being done already.

We got engaged April 2017 and our wedding is in September 2018. I think by the one year mark we had our ceremony, reception, dj, officiant, photographer, and my dress. I get bad anxiety so the more I can get out of the way early on the better for not only me but everyone else lol

I'm so thankful for our long engagement because if the fact we are suddenly moving out of the province for work. So I'd be out of my mind if we were getting married this year along with a cross Canada move.

We got engaged in April 2017 and getting married September 2019.

Since we're getting married in another province, we thought it was important for us to get a few things confirmed and out of the way pretty quickly. We have already booked the venue and photographer. We have a color scheme/vibe decided as well. We're currently gathering guests mailing and email addresses, in case we decide to send anything before the actual invitations.

Depending on the venue, you might need to book at least 18 months in advance, so a long engagement will definitely be an advantage!

    Happy planning Smiley smile

I got engaged in May 2017 and we are getting married in August 2019. I thought I had all the time in the world but when we called the venue we wanted, just to get info, we were informed that it was already booked for the entire summer so we started booking the vendors we really wanted. So far we have the venue, the photographer, the DJ and the Officiant Smiley smile Oh and I got the girl for my hair and make up! I planned everything in the last 3 weeks - now I`m taking my time to arrange the details Smiley smile I feel better now that everything is booked haha. Well the main pieces anyways!

We got engaged mid-June 2017 and will be married June 1, 2019. So we still have a few months until the one year mark and we have our venue (since August 2017), photographer (since November 2017) and officiant (since January 2018) we also plan to have my dress bought, DJ and possibly catering by the 1 year mark.

We got engaged New Years Eve, and are getting married August 2019. We have our photographer, venue, and florist booked already and I just found a wedding band to match my ring, and I’m going dress shopping this July.

Depends on where you are getting married! Brides are ON. THE. BALL. Now a days and I had to book my ceremony space AND venue more than a year in advance! Doesn’t hurt to have a peek around and see what inspires you! (It will help figure out the budget too!)

I got engaged December 2014 and we are getting married this October. We only decided just before the one year mark to get married this year. I have the JP, Venue, rings, and photographer. I wish we had saved more money.

I got engaged October 2017 and I’m not getting married till July 2019. As of right now I have a venue, photographer, florist, photobooth, and a DJ. This way we can save up more to pay for everything before the wedding.

So I got engaged last April and we’re getting married in November. By the one year mark I had my venue, photographer, and DJ. And I wish I’d gotten my flowers earlier. I also got my dress early but that was coincidence.
