My FH had taken me into jewlery stores to try stuff on so he could see if it was the right one first hand and to make sure I liked it. But I had no idea which ring he picked (I had a couple I really loved) and I had no idea when he was going to propose. Jump forward a month and a half we were planning a thanksgiving dinner with friends and neighbors. It was my first time cooking a turkey and feeding so many people. When I put dinner on the table he made a little speech. "You've completely outdone yourself this looks amazing and I know you are going to make an amazing mother some day. Not only do I think you're going to be an amazing mother but I know you will be a wonderful wife." He got down on one knee in front of everyone. I was so surprised I couldn't stop crying. I really didn't see it coming Smiley xd

Awww all your stories are beautiful.Smiley heart

Our proposal happened on our 2 year anniversary. We had our first date at the Keg and as a little throw back we go there for anniversaries too. We went there for an early dinner and even though it was April we had to walk back home in an ice storm. By the time we got home I was pretty chilled because I had worn a dress. My fiance told me that I should go put my PJs on to warm me up and help me feel better. I went into the bedroom to change and I could hear so clanging around in the other room, I thought that my fiance had then just realized that he'd forgotten to wrap my present and was scrambling.

When I came out of the room into our living room he was standing there and told me to come over. I am a big fan of the band Rascal Flatts and he started reciting some of their song lyrics from their song 'Your's if you Want it":

There's one more sip in this bottle of wine (he handed me a bottle of wine here)
A lonely star hangin' in the sky with a wish left on it (he had a star taped to the window behind the curtain that said wish on it)
And it's yours if you want it
And this wildflower from the neighbor's yard (he handed me a little purple lily)
A real slow dance in the moonlight dark (he gave me a little dance spin)
    This hand in my pocket
    Oh baby, just call it
'Cause it's yours if you want itAnd every bit of love left in this beat up, banged up, scarred up heart
That's been waitin' on a girl like you
I know it ain't much, but it comes alive with every touch
Every kiss already feels like you own it
Baby, it's yours if you want it.
Then he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and proposed. We joke that we're not even sure that I said yes because I was crying and screaming so much.
He'd convinced me that the proposal wouldn't be happening on our anniversary and that he didn't want me to be upset about that, but I had been a bit crestfallen. He really surprised me.
The ice storm even adds a cute little detail to our story. I love Disney and my favourite movie is Frozen. My engagement ring is the Elsa ring from People's and it's a snowflake. It just works out that I got that ring on a very snowy day and like in the movie a sudden storm had caused an uncharacteristic blanket of snow and ice.
Then we video chatted/ phoned with my our parents, siblings, best friends and grandmas. My mom cried, my dad said that he could finally call my fiance son, and his mom said that she was excited to gain a daughter.

My god this discussion thread is going to bring me to tears!!!!

As for me, I was actually the one to pop the question to him! lol, I've always done things my way so why would this be any different right?

We met and started dating in March 2017 and by that October we were talking marriage already. We were and are just at the same point in our lives where we both want to settle down and start a family even though we have a 7 and half year age gap (I'm 21 and he is 28).

I decided to propose to him at our Winter Wonderland light drive through as I wanted to be ring in the new year as an engaged couple (even if we didn't tell people for a couple weeks after - he insisted he still go ask my dad for permission Smiley laugh). I had went to Claire's and bought some simple and inexpensive bracelets that say "His one" and "Her only" on them and when we got to the tunnel of love I started in on the reasons why I love him and how he makes me feel like no matter what happens I will be okay because he is there for me and that's when I started crying so I just whipped them out! lol I asked him to marry me and he of course agreed and we went on to take a selfie or two outside in the -40 whether... it was a cold one so I proposed in the car Smiley tongue I love him but I'm not crazy!!

We ended up spending our 1 year of dating anniversary as an engaged couple in Prague and we've been planning the wedding since! Can't believe that I have less than a year until he is my Hubby and we can start trying for babies that aren't the fur kind haha

Eeeee your story is so cute. What a great guy Smiley laugh

My fiance and I had been together just over 5 years by the time last Christmas rolled around. We'd been talking about getting married for years, but between school and jobs changing, we'd never had the extra money for him to sneak away a few thousand dollars Smiley xd

Anyways, every year since I moved to Victoria when I was 14, my family goes to the Butchart Gardens 12 Days of Christmas light display every Christmas season. I am a total Christmas nut, who puts up her decorations early November, and I ADORE the 12 Days display. Once my FH and I started dating, he became a part of the tradition. So last year, December 28th, 2017, we go for our annual visit, and after a full loop around the gardens, and me being totally crestfallen, getting my hopes up every year he'd propose there, he asks me if I want to go back to the Rose Garden alone (it's my favourite part, and we were with my parents). As we walk under the giant balls of mistletoe and lights, he starts telling me how much I mean to him and how he can't imagine his life without me, and pulls out a box, gets down on one knee, and pops the question!!

I bawled, we kissed, people walking by told us to get a room... And we were engaged! As we walked back to the main 'village', my mom was waiting for us, and she immediately started crying (happy tears). Apparently my fiance had asked for her blessing a couple days earlier, but had fibbed that he didn't have the ring yet. Which is true, but he was given a prototype to propose with while the real ring was on order. So it was a big surprise for everyone!

It still melts my heart every time I think about it. Now we are 64 days away, and I can't wait to revisit Butchart this Christmas as an engaged couple! Smiley heart
