Let’s talk about DJs
There are so many of them what do you look for when booking them how do you know it’s going to be the right fit
I’m just overwhelmed with finding vendors and that something isn’t going to go right or we won’t end up liking their service I have kids and I haven’t had a lot of luck lately when it comes to booking birthday parties and getting cakes so I’m so worried I’m going to have the same luck with my wedding.

I knew the genres of music were indian and english with the one mistake of not mentioning no vulgar language music. Otherwise, the choice of knowing to have an indian DJ was easier to go the way.

I looked at all the 5 star Djs i could find on weddingwire and then messaged them all and looked at their prices and packages. i narrowed down the super expensive ones and then messaged the ones i liked and asked them if they have done certain types of music and if they did i went to meet them in person.

I would ask them about what kinds of music they play, what they do if no one is dancing, how they handle requests. It would be nice to know if they let you have a "no play" list of songs you hate as well, and what they would say to a guest who requested one of those songs.

If there are any upcoming events that you can go to or videos from past events so you can get an idea of how they interact with the crowd would be helpful.

We were lucky that my FH used to work at a wedding venue back in the day, so he had watched his DJ work many, many times and saw his style firsthand.

I think the first thing to look at when looking for a DJ - look for one that has reviews and testimonials. You want someone who has worked enough as a DJ to gather some reviews of their work.

Second, does their package include any extras? For example, our DJ also comes with an MC (which you may or may not need), lighting, etc.

If you're having a multi heritage wedding like we are, make sure the DJ knows how to integrate between regular english music, and polish disco music. This was something that was extremely key for us!

Also, sit down with the DJ - you'll get a feeling about whether or not you like them just from talking to them.

Are there any Wedding Socials or parties coming up that you could attend and see if you like the DJ that they hire? That's how most people here in MB find theirs!
