Set a budget your comfortable with and just do alot of looking around and figure out what is important and what is not. is there other locates that would work for you two and the guest. More guest means bigger price tag. We didn’t wanna go over 10,000 and we knew we didn’t want a lot of people so far we are at 7,000 but that’s the Jackson point area

I live in Toronto, and i found it VERY difficult to find something under $30,000. Since our cost of living is so high - you may want to check in the GTA (like Ajax-Pickering-Whitby-Oshawa area). What theme would you like your wedding to be? elegant? rustic? etc. It all depends.

The quote given is scary high. Its possible to cut down which we spend half of the amount. The venue itself was the most expensive and everything else was rented for the most part and paid/bought by parents for me. The outfit bought when they travelled and décor paid by my dad without asking to be repaid. Online shopping was amazing lower on the costs than having to drive out to get them paying higher retail prices.

    Yeah, it's a little terrifying.

What are you looking for specifically, and how many people?

The granite brewery was the best value I could find in the city. I've been to a wedding there, and the service was outstanding, but the space was a little tight for a bigger party.

I can give you some recommendations north of the city if that would help. We're getting married at Market Brewing in Newmarket, and it's quite reasonable and you can choose your own caterer.

For sure able to have a cheaper wedding - but the most common price of a wedding in Canada is around $40,000....

The quotes we got from most "wedding venues" for our guest list of 200+ was going to be roughly $100/person and that only includes food and the use of the venue for a day.... We ended up going 45min. outside the city of Winnipeg, got a venue for the whole weekend, outside catering, bar service, and everything came out to just over $20,000.

Yes... weddings can be expensive ... it depends on several things tho. I.e - venue, head count, are you doing open bar? If so will you just
Go with normal package or are you going to upgrade your bar package, if you have sit down plates vs buffet style diner. Are you going to have real flowers vs fake etc. There’s a lot to think about Smiley smile keep in mind you have a bunch of extra costs past the venue ... photographer/videographer, photo booth, stationary, cake, transportation, just to name a few off top of my head

    Good luck Smiley smile

We are getting married in Toronto and our venue comes to $16,000 including open bar and catering for 80 people. It also has all the furniture, glassware and table settings included, plus a bunch of other extras thrown in. Basically the only other things we have to sort out are the officiant, DJ, decor and our outfits. It can be done, you just have to look around Smiley smile our venue is York Mills Gallery. Highly recommend!

If you look at vendors outside the city, you can save some money if you get a photographer or cake baker who doesn’t have gta prices. As for venues, you may be able to find a cheaper place inn area not commonly used for weddings

It depends on a lot of factors. If you want a wedding on a Saturday, with all the bells and whistles (open bar, five star food, DJ/band, etc etc) then you’re probably looking at at least 30k for Toronto.

If you are willing to scale down some items (maybe a toonie bar instead of an open bar, for example) and have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday, then having a wedding for less than 30k in the city is totally doable!
If your heart isn’t set on Toronto - I would even look outside the city - Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, etc. You might find they have much more reasonable rates and can give you exactly what you’re looking for!
