Is it bad to not have a videographer?

Bethany, on December 4, 2017 at 20:34 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 20
Hey everyone! I have been contemplating a videographer but I don't think I can justify to spend that much money when I've already spent quite a bit on my photgrapher and it seems like even the ceremony to be done is super pricey. However, we have heard great things and they look awesome. But we ended deciding to not have one. But for other brides who are wondering this question, what are the pros and cons of having a videographer?

We did the video and some parts were horrible, misssing the important aspects or played over the music chosen. Nust make sure you do ask for reeferalls first to see if they worth the price.

I've heard horror stories of them missing vows, or other important parts due to filming the guests reactions. Also they are very expensive. I'd just worry they would get in the way of our photographer and our guests.

Yes that's what I was thinking! I hate the thought of spending that much. I love the results that some people have gotten though.

Yeah I'm not really a fan of videogeaohy mostly because of how expensive it is. I hope to get someone to video it with a nice camera but anything else is just too much for my budget.

We won’t have a videographer either. There are two reasons for this. First, it is really expensive for what it is. Second, honestly, how frequently do people watch their ceremony? On DVD?!?

You can always ask a friend to record the ceremony. I think we will be using our GoPro or so.

That's pretty much what we did too! I love my photographer she is amazing and don't regret the amount I spent. Yes I'll have to ask one of my friends too as we are having an "unplugged ceremony".

We didn’t go for a videographer as well. We spent our full budget on a photographer which I think will capture the day quite fine on her own with her assistant.
These days, everyone has a phone. I’m sure there will be a few of your close friends or
family filming with their phone! Just ask around after the wedding for people to send you the short clips.

We are skipping video because we’ll probably only watch it a couple of times. For us the pictures are more important as they’ll be displayed throughout the house.

Totally understand! That's how my fiancé feels! I feel like I would watch it but he wouldn't really much. So it would be good for me but a waste for him. If it was less than $500 than I would be more willing but $1000 and over is crazy. Especially after spending like triple of that on photography lol

Not at all! We aren’t having one. Plus I don’t ever see myself watching it. So it would be a waste of money.

We don’t plan on having one. My Fiancé doesn’t see the need for it and I really don’t like seeing/ hearing myself in videos so I don’t think I would enjoy watching it. I’d much rather just the pictures. Although every time the topic comes up I’m always so nervous that I’ll regret not doing it afterwards.

In my opinion, videographers are so worth the money. They capture moments that the photographers might miss. A videographer and a photographer complement each other well-that way everything is captured. My husband wasn’t convinced at first because of the expense but now he is over the moon with the outcome of having both. The photographs show the day but the video shows the pure emotion.

We didn't get one. I've seen some really great wedding videos, but it just wasn't high-up on our priority list. My sister had a videographer at her wedding and he spent the entire ceremony stepping on my feet and blocking my view. And it took a year to get the video and we've never even watched it, lol. We had 2 photographers at the wedding, so I'm pretty sure we'll be covered (we're getting our pictures back tonight!!)

Okay! I'll have to see if one of relatives or friends can! Definitely a great idea though! And I know! I love photos so I thought I'd rather splurge there.

Yeah! We got like one or two quotes and my fiancé doesn't see the point! I definitely want him to make decisions too so I decided I'd respect his opinion on that one!

We didn't have a videographer but my aunt recorded everything just because which I thought was really nice of her. We got the video a week or so after the wedding and have yet to watch it but we have looked at our pictures a bunch.

I’m in the same boat. I had looked up a couple photographers that offered both, but it was almost double my budget. So we went with just the photographer and we got a second photographer for the ceremony. We figured it might be a nice compromise at a fraction of the cost
