Is greenery really a cost effective options?

Garland and candles = Goals

Is greenery really a cost effective options? 1

When I began planning our wedding I fell in love with the greenery trend. I assumed that it would be a lot cheaper than the traditional flower centrepieces and decor. However, after doing some research I'm getting mixed messages online.

Some sites say greenery is a good way to cut down on the florist cost, but I've also read that garland can be pricey.

So is the greenery trend really a win-win? Does it actually save you money?

Thanks so much!

Yes, most florists would do set up. You should have wedding day Pixies...friends or relatives you can ask to help with setting up decorations etc. on the day of so you are free to enjoy the day! Don't be afraid to delegate...or ask friends that are not in the wedding party... they would LOVE to be a part of your most important day !!

That's a good idea! I think it is something I could do myself with enough time to set up. Do you think most florist would set tables like that? I'm not afraid of a DIY, but I am worried about setting up the day of and getting ready.

Thank so much for good advice

    Jesmyn,

You do not need to do or purchase a garland as the work to make it is where half the cost is. I always suggest to my customers to buy a variety of greens and place them loose on the table creating a beautiful tablescape. If you purchase locally grown greens (boxwood, salal etc.) it will be about one third to half the price of imported greens ( eucalyptus, olive branches etc.)

Have a wonderful time on your special day !

Have you looked at faux flowers/foliage? You could buy pre-made garlands for the table or make them yourself. Once the wedding is over you can re-purpose or sell them and get some of the money back.

There it seems to be working now. Yeah this is AFTER I trimmed a huge amount off. So I'm hoping to be able to use this on my backdrop.
Depending on the month of your wedding you may be able to use something like this. Start to grow in may

I'm putting a lot of greenery and flowers on my backdrop. I started thinking about how much the greenery would cost and it's SCARY. So what I'm doing is growing my own vines and trimming them the day before the wedding and using them. I have a potato co e that grows... CRAZILY. Like... I took this pic AFTER I'd trimmed a half a garbage bag full.

I recently spoke with several florist and they told me that greenery isn’t going to save me any money (probably because it’s trendy now). I’m still going to use it, but have realistic expectations regarding the cost.

I love that look as well, but yes, it's expensive! Think about the time it takes to grow a long garland. I think that's why it's expensive. Also, the demand is high. You could forage your own greenery, like cedar, and create a swag in the centre of the tables.
