Is anyone else getting married at a destination that they've never been? Any recommendations?

Me and my fiance are trying to decide between getting married at home or abroad. So far we are leaning towards getting married abroad in Portugal. Europe is our favourite place, and is very us. (We got engaged in Paris). The problem is we've both never been to Portugal but have always wanted to go. Has anyone else chosen a destination that they never visited? Any recommendations for us?
