Hi all,My boyfriend had recently proposed 2 weeks ago. We started looking at wedding venues to get a sense of when they are available and the cost. My fiancé wants to have the wedding in 2019. Is 2 years too long to wait/plan a wedding? I've told my family and close friends that we got engaged, but now I feel like holding off from telling others because our wedding date isn't for another 2 years. According to this app and google, I don't have to start planning until NEXT October 2018....so what is the point? #frustratedanddiscouraged

Congrats!! I don't think there is a time limit on engagements. I have a friend who has been engaged for literally 5 years. They're slowly planning and saving up their funds. They're not in a rush. It's totally up to the couple though. 2 years can also be good to save extra money and make sure you book the vendors you want as they tend to book up to a year in advance.

    Congrats!

I think it is completely up to you guys. A longer engagement will give you more time to save up and check into deals or discounts and really research vendors.

First of all, congratulations! We're glad you're here at WW!

2 years is absolutely not too long. It gives you and your guests time to save money and plan any needed travel. It lets you take your time planning so you don't get decision fatigue. It means you'll get early pick of the most in-demand vendors, as many can book up well over a year in advance, like photographers, caterers, and venues. It also will give you lots of time to shop for attire and get alterations done. My engagement was a bit under two years and I am so happy we gave ourselves that time, we booked our big vendors early and then took a long break from planning to just enjoy being engaged and do our normal life stuff.
