Involving my nieces in the ceremony

Shelly, on April 4, 2018 at 16:28 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 8

I have two nieces who I want involved in the wedding. They are both getting dresses, they'll be walking down the aisle, but they won't be standing up with the bridesmaids. The problem is, they're at weird ages where I don't know how exactly to include them. One is going to be 12, the other will be 17 when we get married. I don't want to put the 17 year old in the bridal party with the bridesmaids because the other will feel left out. We are also already lopsided on both sides and I just don't have room for both of them to be in the bridal party (I already have 8 bridesmaids thanks to FH having so many sisters).

What could they both do that would have them included in the ceremony and walking down the aisle, but just not standing up front with the rest of the BMs? Is 12 too old to be a flower girl?

Junior bridesmaids or even ring bearers.

I agree with the junior bridesmaid idea and I like the idea of a shoutout at the ceremony. You could also have them do a reading together, or a separately.

They could be Jr. Bridesmaids. They will walk and stuff just take a seat at the front instead of standing. You can also give them a shoutout during the speeches just say, "thank you to my jr bridesmaids for being a special part of our day".

Yes junior bridesmaid is a great idea. My daughter will be barely 2 years old is my special bridesmaid. You can always ask her as well if she wants to be flower girl our junior bm.

I agree with Courtney... you can have them walk down first as junior bridesmaids, and then put them on the far end of the front row. Then they can walk out with the procession as well.

You could make them junior bridesmaids. I don't know if there are any set rules about junior bridesmaids.. so in theory you could have them walk down, but then sit in one of the front rows.

I don't think 12 is too old, i am making my 12 year sister the flower girl. We are not having a bridal party just my sisters and nephew so that's they are standing out. They will also be announced as we enter the reception, also getting little special favours just for them for helping us. Goodd luck with planning Smiley smile
