Inviting or sending invites to vendors for the reception

Jillian, on July 4, 2019 at 16:51 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11

When(timeframe) and how do you invite vendors to the reception?

We want to invite the officiant for the cocktail hour and reception, do you send them an invite? Or contact them directly to ask?

Do you send your day of coordinator and their assistant, photographer and videographer an invite in the mail? Or let them know the details in person or by email?

Same here. I don't see why ppl invite vendors to begin with. The vendors are already there and being paid to do a job. Not there to relax and hang out with our family and guest.

I gave my photographer an invite because he can add it to his portfolio (His photos are on the invite) however, other than that i am just providing their menu options for dinner and informing them there will be a spot for them.

I would assume that with people like photographers and DJs it's implied that they're there for dinner for the reception, while with the officiant I think you can verbally tell them either on the day of or during the rehearsal (if you choose to have one).

For my photographer and DJ, they have it in their contract that we are providing dinner, and they are going to be at the reception anyways, so I'm not sending them an invitation. I will meet with both individuals in August in person and let them know the details then and give them the opportunity to let us know of and dietary requirements.

My officiant said it was unlikely she'd be able to stay after the ceremony, but again, I'm going to meet with her in August and re-extend the invitation to say through dinner.

We hand delivered a wedding invitation to our pastor inviting him to the whole day, he had mentioned in the past someone just assumed he would come to all and he couldn't because didn't arrange child care. I hand delivered mine to him normal amount in advance. I didn't invite any of the vendors to the reception. The vendors are going to be there in general as they are hired to complete a job and know the details of when they should be there, I didn't give an invitation due to this

We might invite our officiant to stay for dinner but that would be it. I doubt we'll give her a formal invite, probably just confirm with her in person as we discuss the details of the ceremony.

We will most likely just extend the invitation to stay then and there as we don't have a menu option for them to choose from. If we did then it would just be by emailing them though and not by invite.

I didn’t send out invites to any vendors. They are going to be there anyways, and are more than welcome to stay for dinner if it is not already listed in their contract

Vendors are really your services for the day so they will be present. The information provided is correct by others that they do know where your venue is held and timing everything. You can save the effort on yourself to do more.

On the Officiant referral part of the reception, you can invite him/her personally by giving them the card when your going over the details of your service.

My FH said we aren’t giving our vendors actual invites. Just the information. So I guess that’s what we’re doing!

I didn't send any vendors an invitation I just gave them the details. I asked our officiant if she wanted to stay during our meeting but also never sent an invite.
