Invites

Natasha, on August 28, 2019 at 20:03 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13
Was looking for some insight: thinking about ordering our invitations online! Was wondering if anyone has ordered online? If so what is a good website? Not 100% sure what type I want yet but do know I want to add a pick your favourite song! Thank you in advance

I just received the samples from vista print and they gave me a 50% off code that is good until mid January 2020. It's nice to see the quality of the paper too.

I spent hours scouring so many online print shops: Vistaprint, Shutterfly, Minted, Zola, you name it. There were a lot of beautiful designs, but nothing that really stood out to me. Also, I'm a bit picky and didn't want anything watercolour, floral, swirly font, rustic, lace, wood or clip art-y. FH initially wanted laser cut pockets (!) but when I explained the cost he came around. But I was then stuck on the idea of pocket folds. None of the regular places made those.

I considered making everything myself, but after doing some price shopping on Amazon, I discovered Cards & Pockets. They have DIY kits that are just the pocket, mat (card to glue the invite to), RSVP cards & envelopes, inner and outer envelopes starting at $1.12 US. I can buy a ream of white cardstock for under $20 at Staples and just print all my invites and card inserts. I'll be doing three our four.

I then played around in Publisher with different backgrounds and fonts and came up with this:

    Pocket inviteInvites 1

With shipping it comes to $165 for 50 invites. Certainly not the cheapest you can get, for sure. But looking around at Etsy and others for pocket folds, they run between $6-$8 each, sometimes more.

Doing this also helped me find our monogram, which will be on all our paper products as a sort of "brand" and will help tie everything together.

Doing it this way though, I'll be having an Invite-Making party! No way I want to cut and glue all these together by myself. That's what bridesmaids are for! Smiley smile

We went with Minted. We were going to use Vistaprint due to all the recommendations (and sales!) but couldn't find anything that (I specifically, he couldn't care less) really loved. Minted was a bit more expensive than Vistaprint, but not much, and I really love that you can design your website with them to match your invites. They also have some different invitation styles that I really liked. We went with the ones with the detachable RSVP card that fold into an envelope. They can also address them for you if you upload all your names/addresses so that saves a LOT of time and energy.

They weren't my invites, but I have ordered paper products from Shutterfly before. They are an American company, so shipping is a little higher (though not unreasonable) AND they have an option to mail your items for you (again, may cost a LITTLE more, but SO much easier than getting them mailed to you and then you having to sort and send them out yourself). They often have sales on their cards and such, so you can usually find a pretty good deal as well!

Vistaprint for sure! Everything is customizable, it's cheap, but good quality and you can request a sample.

Vistaprint! There’s a lot of people on here that have used vistaprint and honestly it’s worth it. If you keep an eye out you can get them during one of the 50% off semi annual sales! They’re definitely worth it

    So many great online sites!
I did ours through Vistaprint and waited until they had a 50% off sale. So I got a wicked deal on all our save the dates, invites and RSVP!
You can also do templates from Etsy and print them yourself, or there are some shops that will do the printing for you.
My sister in law had my shower invites printed at Costco and they turned out really nice as well!

I personally ordered my invitations from invitationsbydawn.com . In addition to the options Vinod mentioned there is Zola, Zazzle, Minted, Optimal Print. We’ve received invites from Vistaprint and Minted and they were really nice.
