Invitations and Rsvps

Bryana, on December 30, 2019 at 21:02 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
I need some help!! My wedding is September 12, 2020. About 50% of our guest list don’t live in the city.

I need final numbers 6 weeks ahead (for our florist) which would be right at the beginning of August. I’d like to give myself 10-14 days to chase stragglers that haven’t responded (July 15-20)
When should I mail out the invitations??
Thank you!!

I would send them out in april. that gives you enough time for final #s and calling and emailing people to follow up with

I would say that since you need to get the RSVP's back by the 15th-20th of July that I would send them out at roughly April/May and to make it even easier on you I would go ahead and hand deliver most of them during Easter! (English = April 12th, Ukrainian/Orthodox = April 19th)

Hi! Yes we did send out save the dates!
We are doing digital RSVPs via our website and a few reply cards for the elderly guests.

    Thank you!!

3 months seems fair to send out invitations with emails for most and the elders a card for replying. This way they have time to reply locally as 4 months for out of town family and guests so they have enough time to arrange travel visas and airline tickets.

I agree with Amelia, you should definitely send out save the dates, just so your guests can plan well in advance.
I’m kind of in the same boat as you, so we’ve decided to send our invites 6 months in advance. That way we also have time if someone says no to reach out to someone else. Just mostly so we can corral our guests together. Make sure to given them a hard deadline when you send it out though.

Hey Bryana! Welcome to wedding wire Smiley smile
Are you doing save the dates? If so I would send those soon so the out of town guests can prep with flights or hotels.

I think the etiquette is 8-12 weeks before the RSVP date. You could adjust that a bit and go 3-4 months early so May or late April. You can also send them in waves to the farthest guests get sent theirs first.
Are you doing digital RSVPs? They would be faster than mailed ones, some older guests might not use them so a few RSVP cards for those people are a good idea.
