Meaghan, on May 11, 2020 at 15:11 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14
Hey my lovely 2020 brides, I was supposed to get married on July 25,2020. I already sent invites out and unfortunately we have postponed until next summer only because my sister my medical issues and I’m not risking it, but anyways I was wondering would you put out a second set nothing like the original ones but just so I have one for my memories too? I don’t know what to do, help?!?!

You’re definitely not obliged to send out new invites, you can definitely update people on social media etc. However if you’re interested in seding out new ones you can, which is the route we decided to go so we’d have memories of both! We found some really cute change the dates on Vistaprint! Also note if you ordered your invites on Vistaprint or Shutterfly both are offering a print gurantees/print promises that if you need to change your date they will do reprints for free because of COVID!

Invitations sent out don't need remaking since you can notify your guests by social media or email of the date change of next year. Your venue and timing is the same as the date is what they will know is being changed for next year. The cost does add to your budget to redo all the invites unless the company is willing to credit your last order to change the date for the new batch. Its always worth a shot to ask and try.

I would do something a bit different so they don't get mistaken for the originals.

We had sent out save the dates, and were about to order our invites when this all happened. I'll wait until next spring to design and order them in case I decide I hate eucalyptus by then!

    Hi Meaghan,

I know how you feel as we had to reschedule our date of July 18th 2020 - but we are trying our luck and pushed it to October 9th 2020 instead, hoping it gets better by then.

That being said I created a Facebook page for my wedding and invited all my guests (who have Facebook) onto the page to keep everyone posted on new the new date, this way they can RSVP and I update any important information on there as well.
There is also a website called TieTheKnot that you can create you guest list and have people visit to advise if they can attend and you can also put notices and date changes there as well.

I totally understand where you're coming from! I've done the same with my bridal book. I think that would be a great idea and you would have that forever as a keepsake! Plus 2020 is a year no one will ever forget.

Sounds super cute to add the picture! Will you still be getting legally married this year? If so, the picture could be of you two on your wedding day. If not, then I would say this is your chance to have a little fun with Covid-19 humour and wear face masks, hold TP & lysol, etc.

We have done Facebook and calling personally, but I was thinking about my bridal book etc, just cause I already have this years invite so I was thinking about doing something small and personal for my close family.

My fiance and I had to postpone our August 8 wedding. But we hadn't sent out our invites yet just save the dates were sent last year. We sent out an update through Facebook private message and whoever didn't have Facebook we physically called them and let them know. We didn't want to spend any more money then we needed to just for an update

From a financial point; I would probably just send an update via text/email/calling as long as the place and times are still all the same.

If I had the money though... then I would probably send out new invites just because I could - but I would for sure make them different looking as to make sure they don't get mixed up with the original ones.
