Invitation Wording

Nikki, on July 31, 2019 at 09:45 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13
Hello all!

We are having a less traditional wedding, and I’m stuck on wording for the invitations.
We will be having immediate family (up to 14) for our ceremony, as well as our dinner. Following dinner we have a cocktail style reception from 8pm-12pm. It will be open bar, and around 10:00 there will be a late night table consisting of poutine, sliders, and pizza.
I would like to include something on the bottom of the invitations to note we will provide late night food. However, I feel putting “drinks and late night snacks/foods/etc. will be provided” is less formal than I would like.

Does anyone have any suggestions for wording on this?!

Doing exactly the same thing (minus the open bar). We got two different invites - one for the wedding and one for the reception. Reception says: " will be married in a small ceremony on DATE. Please join us in celebration of our wedding at the reception following the ceremony for appetizers and cocktails".

I love that! Such a good idea. I’m thinking I may just leave off the invitations and have more of a description on my wedding website where they rsvp

Ok so maybe you could say something along the lines of "join us for good food, great music, bad dancing"? Or "cost of food and drinks = free, cost of bad dancing = priceless" y'know?

Reception time will be noted, but guests will not be coming to the ceremony

I would say its normally expected - if you want to reassure people though you could write something similar to what you wrote but more corky? Remember it is open bar but there will be delicious food to go with it later on or something along the lines

I see - well if it helps, at least here in MB when there is alcohol involved in an event food is required by law to be provided?

How do your invitations look rn? Do they list the ceremony time as well as reception time etc.?

Understandable. However, since they will not be coming for a dinner I do want to reassure guests that it is an open bar and we will be providing light food later on

Hmmm, I mean from weddings I've been to and whatnot late night food is just... expected? So I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you really want it out there for them to know I would call them "refreshments" perhaps?
