Inner & Outer Envelopes

Monica, on October 30, 2018 at 13:02 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15
Hi ladies!

Just wondering if anyone else will be doing inner and outer envelopes? I know for the ones that we’re mailing out, we’ll definitely use double envelopes so the invites don’t look all dirty when mailed via Canada Post.

But the free envelopes from Vista Print are kind of cheap looking and feeling. Was thinking of ordering red envelopes as inner and use the free white ones as the outer.

What do you think? Anyone else considering double envelopes?

Yes, the envelopes are from VistaPrint! They’re pretty nice since the colour goes with our invitation colours, and it has our address printed on the back flap.

Yes, I definitely agree that in inner envelope allows for more clarity as to who is invited

Agreed Caitlyn, it’ll also be easier to address who exactly you want to invite to your wedding with an additional inner envelope

Thanks Vinod. I’ve ordered address labels and envelope seals from Vista as well - hopefully it’ll help spruce up the envelope a bit! It just feels a bit flimsy, or thin lol

I used the plain white envelopes from vistaprint and put clear mailing labels to give that appeal. The inner envelope wasn't needed at all.

I got mine from cardsandpockets.com! Its awesome because you can get samples with free shipping to make sure you get the right color and then the final delivery was super quick! I got the basic 5x7" ones (no fancy laser cutting) and they were $0.80 each! I also got the gold Belly bands and monogram squares to go with them! I'm so happy with them!

I've already sent out our invites. I used the plain white VistaPrint envelopes... Honestly... I didn't think anything of it. People rip them open and they're in the garbage before the invite hits the fridge. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think they got damaged... I get mail every day and it's virtually never damaged/torn/stained. To each their own though, if you feel more comfortable adding a second envelope then do it!

I never thought of doing a double envelope! It's definitely a good idea but a little too late for me to do it (already addressed and put stamps on all my envelopes!). Anddd we upgraded the envelope from VistaPrint so the quality for us isn't too bad.

Yes, agreed! I was also reading about double envelopes - can be quite helpful with addressing who exactly you’re intending to invite lol

Hey Stephanie! If you don’t mind me asking, where did you get your card pockets? I was thinking of buying the laser cut ones online, but they’re pretty pricey!

I’ll be using double envelopes. It’s more formal and also we’re getting our invitations from invitations by Dawn online and they just come with double envelopes anyway. It also helps protect the invitation a bit more

I won't be using two envelopes but that's just because I don't think that it will matter too much as long as they can read the information on the envelope. I doubt that the guests will hold it against me if the invitations are a bit water stained or something that I can't control. Make sure you know if the second envelope will impact the weight of the envelope and therefor impact the price of the postage!!

I havent considered it but it is a smart idea! I'm doing card pockets so I think that should hold up fine in an envelope even if handled a bit roughly?
