Indoor or outdoor wedding? Pros and cons? Help a girl out!

Tonisia, on June 30, 2020 at 17:14 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
My wedding is July 2021. We have a hall booked in finacé’s home town in southeast sask. The thing is we just bought an acreage, and have more than enough room to throw our wedding out here. Lots of people say we should stick to our original plan and keep the hall, incase of weather and the fact it has everything we need (toilets, kitchen, fridges, power, shelter, etc) so I guess my question is to the people who threw outdoor weddings in sask how was your experience? Do you wish you picked indoors? Tent rental is our biggest expensive so far which honestly is pretty comparable to the hall rental.

The outdoors is great though the cost of budget more for a tent, décor, bar, staff, catering and more has to be considered along with the sides to be down in case it does rain for guests shelter. Insects can be an issue given the heat/warm temperature for guests outdoors.

The indoors is a good back up plan as it would be set and your costs are lowered given the set up is done for you and you have your guests entertained happily.

I never even thought of doing the rehearsal dinner out here! What a wonderful idea, thank you so much! Best of both worlds then!

If your hall has an outdoor space for photos, that could be a best of both worlds kind of situation. And I agree with Amelia, it could be a great space for a rehearsal lunch/dinner.

There are definitely less variables with an indoor party, and that is a huge pro. No need to worry about rain, heat waves, shade, or bugs.

Maybe have other wedding related events at your property (rehearsal BBQ for example) but I would leave the reception indoors.

We do have running water and power available, the field is right behind our house. I never took bugs into factor there is a dugout just past the trees, that could be an issue! Thank you for your input, I think we’re leaning more towards indoors. Can’t beat AC lol

Being outdoors will add expenses. You'll need generators for power, which will be loud. You'll need to buy water bottles for all guests unless you somehow get running water outside.

The weather can be nice outside in July but if you good it indoors, you'll be nicely air conditioned no mattered what so you won't be a hot mess.
Depending on how close you are to standing water outside, bugs could be a factor, especially mosquitos.
