Yeah I'm trying not to let it get in the way. I'm sure all will be forgotten once the day comes.

I totally understand your frustration : We had about 5 people "decline" after we confirmed our numbers with the venue - 1 buddy told me the day before the wedding he couldn't make it.

We were able to fix our total numbers with our venue manager, but still ended up paying for about 3 people who didn't show up.

Might be frustrating, but in the end your wedding day is going to be amazing and you'll have a blast! Don't let these things get in the way of that Smiley winking

Yeah that is true. I'm also glad that we aren't doing a sit down dinner so leftovers will be easier to take home since it's all finger foods.

Oh no! Some people just don’t understand that they can’t say yes and then turn around and change their mind!
Hopefully you can invite a few more people who didn’t make the list in the first place. It’s also good you found out now instead of on your wedding day

You are welcome. We had people not show up for our wedding without so much as a word. I saw myself getting upset about the wasted money and food. I decided to just let it go as the money was spent and being upset would have just left a huge blemish on our beautiful wedding day. Best of luck with everything.

Thanks for the ideas. We did already invite a few people and gave out extra plus ones. No kids at the wedding whatsoever, except FH's sister. And our vendors will be fed.

I’m sorry to hear that. It amazes me that people just have no clue the impact of doing that! As others have suggested, maybe invite a few coworkers or plus ones- otherwise, smile and nod and keep you head up. I promise this won’t be important on your wedding day!

At least they told you before the wedding which gives you time to invite others. Maybe give somebody a plus one or if you are open to kids at the wedding allow guests to bring their kids. Were you originally planning to feed your vendors? (photographer etc.) If not, now you can. Just some suggestions.

Thanks. I'm really not a person who can lie. Even white lies so I will probably just tell the truth. But anyone we would be inviting now wouldn't have expected to be invited anyways.

I'm sorry for your disappointment, if it was a serious reason they couldn't attend then it would be easier to understand. Take this as an opportunity to invite more friends, coworkers or family to make up the difference. Just don't let the last minute invites know of ur cancellations that way they won't feel bad being around 2 InvitesSmiley winking just say ur not terribly organized or some other harmless fib to spare any bad feelingsSmiley smile best of luck in ur questSmiley smile

Yeah I mean at this point we don't have time for that it's only 3 weeks until the wedding. But it's okay.

Yeah it's the most frustrating because no one has particularly great excuses. And some people even didn't give us an excuse just said welp not coming. Gee thanks.

Ugh. I hate that. I realize that life happens and not everyone can make it to their commitments but it is still SO frustrating. Hang in there and like you said, enjoy leftovers!

We did invite a few extra people. That may or may not come. The venue already gave us extra food for free which was so nice of them. And we are doing a cash bar. At the very worst we will just take home a ton of leftovers.

Ah Katelyn, that sucks a lot. Unfortunately there’s nothing you really can do about those guests, but perhaps you could reach out to your venue and explain the situation. Maybe there’s something they can do and reallocate the money (into a better bar or extra late night foods). OR you could invite people now who didn’t make the cut originally.
