I picked the dress!!

Jodi, on August 17, 2017 at 17:24 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9

Hi Ladies!!

im still a year out from our wedding day but I have already picked the dress and paid for it last week... am I crazy? I love it so much and wanted my MIL to be able to be there for me while I chose it as she has had some recent cancer scares.

my question is .. I was trying on size 12s- the dress I adore was a size 12 and big on me that they had to clip it up- they mentioned that the dresses get stretched out because they are tried on everyday and the girl was pushing me to order a size 14. I stuck with the 12 and hope I made the right decision. If I loose weight they can take it in.. I don't know just how stretched those dresses would be...

when did you buy your dresses and bridesmaids dresses?

I got mine a year ahead of our wedding date too - well, paid the deposit. And the staff told me the same thing about the samples being stretched so I ended up going a size up. I think either way is fine and not worth worrying about - I'm sure they can make it perfect no matter what!

My bridal store told me 2 months before is okay. But I'm going to say 2 and half to 3 months before incase of any mess ups.

They can take it in by two sizes anyways depending on the style of dress. I got a size 12 and they did the same with me. They want you to pay more for alterations. That's why they tell you to do that.

I don't think it is a bad thing that you got it this early and I think it was wise to stick to your guns.

I think you did the right choice, if you are a size 12 then you are a size 12, not a 14. It costs more in alterations the more fabric they need to take away.

Found my dress on April 29th . It arrived at the end of June.

I tried on the 12 and ordered a 10 (even though i'm between sizes. But it came in and fit perfectly).

Chances are if it was too big while trying on, it might just fit you perfectly when it comes in (if its stretched like they say).

Ordering so far in advance isn't a bad thing though. Give you time to lose a couple pounds (if needed). Or at least that's how i see it.
