Oh I feel you! Their checklist totally helped at the beginning (not following it as much now), as I made sure I booked the vendors I wanted by a specific time. And thank goodness for this community page, I don't know what I would do without it.

Yeah one of the reasons I joined this site is that I needed help organizing my wedding and finding bride support. I have never been to a wedding, don't know what's normal and I never paid attention to wedding details growing up.

If you have questions just create a discussion. The to do list is a big help too.

I was in the same position as you. Never planned a wedding and have maybe been to 3 weddings my whole life, most of which when I was little, so I was going with the flow. I found Weddingwire's timeline was really good to help keep track of things. I also was given a wedding planning book by a friend, which was helpful to make sure I was doing things right. Enjoy the process, and don't stress too much!

Wedding Wire is a great place to start!! There are so many tools and so much support here. I would advise you take a look at the budget planning tool and to-do list for an idea of where to start.

Don't you worry, Skylor, you've in good hands here! We never get tired of talking about weddings and will be here to guide you through it. So, to get yourself started:

    1) set a budget

    2) come up with a rough guest list

You need to know both of those things before making just about any other wedding plan!

    3) talk to your VIPs and start to work on when you'd like to get married

    4) make sure you're taking time to enjoy being engaged!!

Join the club Skylor! I think the majority of brides (and grooms) on here are planning their first wedding and it's a learning process for all of us! Definitely utilize WeddingWire and other resources to help allievate the pressure of planning. There's so much useful information here that's personally helped me with the finer details of planning.

To get a better idea of whats needing to be done, wedding checklist is a good way to know what to do and what time frame over a year time. Keep a folder or binder to ensure all documents are secure and safe.

I did make sure all emails and purchases were saved too if returns had to be made within a time frame.
