i caved...

Sonia, on July 2, 2018 at 16:24 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13
So I caved and asked my cousin who is a wedding planner to help me plan our wedding. It’s just getting a little frustrating with my fiancé still being in school and having the worst work schedule of life that we can’t plan our wedding. The only time he’s available is when all the vendors are closed. So it makes it really difficult. I know what he wants so it just makes it easier to ask her to help me plan.

Has anyone used a wedding planner? And how did it go??? I know I’m in great hands with my cousin. Just curious about others experiences

We did not use a wedding planner. We just have been doing it ourselves plus the help of his mom and my bff. We have our day of coordinator that works for the venue so that will really help to keep things moving smoothly.

Having your cousin help you seems better than anyone else since its family and she can talk to the vendors to take care of the details till the day if needed.

Its also great for saving the cost and headache of looking into extra costs.

As long as you have help and get the wedding you want than all is good!

See I wouldn’t mind doing that! I even suggested it. But he’s being a groomzilla actually lol so this way if my cousin is helping. Then that takes part of the stress away. It’s a little mean because then it feels like he’s not getting a say but I know what he likes and I would never make a final decision without him. For now I know we’re in great hands and that makes me extremely happy

I'm glad that you have found a way to help yourself and relieve some of your stress. We were pretty lucky and didn't end up needing one as we had opposing schedules so my husband could handle morning e-mails and stuff and I could do evenings.

I would never have made it through the wedding without my wedding planner!! There was an unexpected hurricane on our wedding day, and she was a total superhero - finding a replacement dj when our band cancelled, making sure we had back up plans if we lost power, finding new indoor photo locations, and keeping everyone calm and communicating with all of my other vendors!

But even without the wedding day disasters she was still worth her weight in gold. ☺️ My package included month-of planning, and event design. Honestly it’s just great knowIng that there’s someone else out there thinking about your wedding and making sure you’re on track! Having help in that final month bringing all the final details together and triple confirming timelines and logistics with all the vendors was so awesome.

My best advice to get the MOST help out of your cousin is to develop an in-depth planning timeline together and to ask a ton of questions! Ask her about the pros and cons of different decisions and see if she has any great vendor recommendations!

Easier but to hire a wedding planner. So lucky that it’s your cousin and that she’s willing to help.

We did the first part of our planning no problem. We got our venue church priest DJ and photo/video. But now we’re starting the second third of our planning and I guess because it’s not as “important” we’re being a little lazy about it. And there’s a little less than a year left. So I’m really happy my cousins helping out.
its great to hear you guys are having such a wonderful time with your wedding planners!!! Smiley smile

We are using one and so far so good. We both have crazy busy schedules and I found myself taking almost 2 weeks at times to get back to vendors. It just wasn't worth the stress.

Although they are pricey for full planning services consider the cost of your personal time. If I was gonna put a price on losing my entire summer and every minute of my free time to wedding planning it would be much more than the cost of the planner.

Omg if it wasn’t for our wedding planner we’d be a mess. Hands down the best money ever spent! She has been such a great help on everything and I mean everything.
We’re planning our wedding from a far. As the 1 year mark approached we were having issues with our venue and trying to get family to help was next to impossible, my fiancé suggested that I look into a wedding planner. The cost blew my mind but the peace of mind she has brought and the help... worth every penny!

We decided to use a wedding planner, as we are planning a wedding in Canmore from Winnipeg. Still early on in the process (getting married in August 2019) but I already feel some stress removed from my shoulders!

We’re using a planner and she”s been great so far. The bonus is that she includes decor with her service.

Between your cousin and Pinterest I’m sure you’ll be fine!
