I guess it may happen during the rehearsal, if we do one.

I am not sure. We are still trying to find an officiant.

Not sure but it’ll probably be the responsibility of one of the groomsmen. My fiancé’s brother is pretty reliable so potentially him.

I would hope we could just give it to her the day of? I don't want to have to travel 3-4 hours to meet with her so she can sign it.

We will be meeting with our officiant before we go get our license so we will discuss it then but we will probably just give it to her the day of.

We only met our legal officiant in person the day of the wedding so I had everything in an envelope for her and gave it to her a few hours before the wedding.

Either our best man will carry it until the rehearsal dinner and give it to the officiant or our officiant said we can bring it to our last consult which is 2 weeks before the wedding!

I was under the impression it was the best man's job to have the certificate, and give it to the officiant prior to the ceremony. However, giving it to them ahead of time sounds like a good plan too!

We have our officiant booked already. I think we sit down with her a few weeks before the wedding. We will be going to get our license on April 9th which is 2 months before the big day.

Probably at the rehearsal. We meet with our officiant at least twice before the wedding so we'll give it to him one of those times.

We are meeting with our officiant two more times before the wedding so we will be giving it to him on the last meeting. We're going in a couple weeks to apply for it!

We have to meet with our officiant 2-4 weeks before our wedding day (literally in our contract) so we will give it to him then.

A bit of advice for brides looking to save money - it may not save you a whole lot but check with the various towns/cities in your area when it comes to getting your license. They can charge different fees (I've seen them vary by up to $40) in various townships so check around to see if somewhere nearby charges less than your city hall.

Example. Ottawa (which is one of the most expensive places apparently) charges $161.50 but my parents town 45 minutes away charges $130. I go visit every couple weeks so I'll be making an appt to get it there while I'm home. 30 bucks is 30 bucks. As long as FH signs the paperwork in advance I can pick it up myself.

The day before our actual ceremony. We'll be signing it in Ontario and celebrating in Québec.

We have to have our marriage license before we meet with our officiant. When we have it we meet with her to go over our ceremony and give it to her. She brings it with her to the ceremony for us to sign.

Haha it is here too. We had to pay $100 basically so we get our papers and everything can be filed. But again, we give the cheque to our officiant and she takes care of it lol

Yes, 100% sure. I'm in Quebec so it works differently. Our officiant basically does all the work. They submit all the papers work for us. During the ceremony we sign a declaration of marriage. This what the officiant and two witnesses sign as well. Once that's filed, 30 days after we can apply for a certificate but we don't have too. Its only if we want a copy.

Are you sure about that Jen? We had to pay ($140) and apply for the official license which is what we sign at the ceremony. Then the officiant submits it for us and a couple month later we can apply for the certificate. Also if you or your partner have been divorced before you can get the license you have to get and supply with your application the official divorce certificate.
I’m in Ontario. Maybe it’s different where you are?
we plan on giving the license to the officiant at the rehearsal the day before.

We actually don't have to get our marriage license. Our officiant supplies the paper work we have to sign and we can apply, if we want, for a marriage certificate 30 days after our ceremony.
