How to ask guests that want to give $ to e-transfer

Samantha, on January 8, 2025 at 07:24 Posted in Plan a wedding 1 1
We don’t expect gifts. We have been living together for awhile so we don’t need much. We just want to celebrate.

But I don’t know how to politely request, that if anyone does want to give us a cash gift, that they give it as an e-transfer.
I’ve had friends with message cards go missing, visa gift cards with fraudulent pins. Lost cheques! I don’t want to worry about gift safety at our venue.
So how do you politely say, please send us money or gifts to our home and not bring them with you to our wedding? And not have it sound like we are asking for gifts

Interac eTransfer has become so common nowadays, and I feel like guests shouldn't have a problem doing it. I think some guests will still resort to cash or some other form of $, but I think you could say something along the lines of "In lieu of cash or cash equivalent gifts, we kindly request all monetary gifts be sent us via eTransfer (email address).

It's pretty common in the U.S.. Their version of Interac is called Zelle, and Zelle offers this service where the couple receives the money on their wedding day (but you would be sending it earlier). I think Canada's real-time payments service is just behind.
