How much time between your ceremony and reception?

Lynnie, on January 10, 2019 at 15:58 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 17

How much time will you have between your ceremony and the reception?

Are you leaving time for a private moment with your new spouse, or scheduling a gap for you to take pictures? Will your guests be busy at cocktail hour? Do you have travel between your venues?

Our ceremony location is approximately 15 minutes from our reception venue, so the time between will be that driving time. We're doing a "first look" and all our pictures beforehand in order to avoid a long lull in between!

Depending on how long the ceremony takes (not sure, somewhere in the 15-30 minute range), it could be anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes between... Lol. Or however long people take to walk upstairs really. The venue is all in one, and it's winter, so we are taking all our photos first during the day light, and then having the ceremony and reception back to back.

Timing between the wedding and reception was filled with group pictures and family shots. Otherwise, it was our timing of personal shots with the photographer around the lake.

There will be 2 hours between ceremony and reception. Our cocktail hour is at 5:30 and we plan to mingle with guests before dinner at that time. Our ceremony and reception are under one roof but in different rooms so we only have to travel to our next room lol.

We will be doing photos at this time and if time permits, we will take a few minutes to take it all in just the two of us.

Less than an hour bc the ceremony and venue are at the same place. We’ll kick off the reception with a mimosa toast.🥂

Guests will have 1 hour to mingle, while we're getting our pictures taken.

We had an hour long cocktail/canape hour after the ceremony while we had our time and pictures together, then went right into brief speeches and then lunch. We didn't want anyone having to "kill time" in between and it gave them something to do while visiting with each other/waiting for lunch.

We will be doing a first look as our ceremony is at 5 and then cocktails from 530-630 and then the reception starts.
Literally a cocktail hour where we will do a couple more pics of us and the wedding party and then family pictures

We're not doing a first look because we are both convinced it's bad luck to see each other before the ceremony. We have about an hour between our ceremony and reception, so we'll do pictures then. We are planning to skip our antipasto hour though and have some private time before the party starts.

There will be a cocktail hour (and a half) where we will be going to get pictures and then heading straight into the reception

Aiming for a 12:30 ceremony ending at 1:00, followed by our reception at a different venue at around 5, 5:30. So people will have lots of time to reset and get ready for the party!

I want to do a first look, my fiancé does not, so we are not having a first look. We are getting married at 12:30 and reception will be at 5:00 or 5:30 (that part is still left to be determined). It is about a 2 minute drive between the location of the ceremony and our reception. It will be open to our guests, however there is lots of exploring that they can do in the town of Jasper while we are off getting photos done. We are planning to have yards games, if the guests decide to hang out at our reception location and grow bored while waiting for us to arrive. We might have appetizers too for them before supper depending upon our budget.

We decided to do a first look to get the photos out of the way, then we are having the ceremony in the reception room, right before the reception. It just made sense as everyone is traveling to come to our wedding and lots of people aren’t arriving until that day. Now they have time to check in, freshen up etc.

My ceremony will end around 3:40, cocktails start at 5, with our reception starting at 6! Not too bad!

We will probably have about... maybe a 2 minute walk from the ceremony to the reception 😂😂

It's at the same venue so what will happen will most likely be us exiting the ceremony on the dock to our bridal cabin to sign the physical papers (too much risk if it's windy on the dock of it going in the water), and during that time the guests will make their way to the pavilion where they can grab drinks before our grand entrance into there.

This of course, is not set in stone yet though. We are also considering giving them like 30 minutes to mingle while we get some sunset photo's (although we will be doing a first look shoot as well as the family pictures prior to the ceremony.

Yes! My fiancé and I intend to do "first look" pictures at our venue, but away from the area the ceremony itself will take place, so I'm looking forward to that time together. I'm hoping our guests will be busy during cocktail hour so we can get in some more pictures then (but with our family).
