How much luck have you had with a wish list/gift registry?

I made a gift list on Amazon for our wedding, I'm not sure how successful it will be.

So far, we had few people use our online list, but we've sent our invitations less than two weeks ago, so that's not surprising.

My fiancé's brother and his wife used the same website as us, and they received about a third of the gifts they listed there, plus enough money to buy a freezer, but they also received a lot of other stuff.

We put a clear message explaining that we already have most of what we need both on our wedding website and on our list heading, so I hope people do use it.

We had quite a few people buy stuff off our registry or Amazon wish list. Just make sure you provide people with the link and remove things that have already been purchased if you receive them before the wedding.

I made a registry on Myregistry.com - Which I love this website because you can add/link all of your registries to, including Amazon. The night before we mailed our invites out, we went to Bed Bath & Beyond and made a registry there and linked it to our Myregistry.com. We also have a honeymoon fund on there, some Amazon stuff and our BBAB registry is linked.

Depends on the crowd! My family give gifts. My friends are about half and half.

I find people tend to give gifts at showers and cash at weddings.

I agree it will depend on the age group of your guests. We’re doing MyRegistry.com, which is similar, but you still have the option to buy the gift in store and then remove it off the registry. My shower isn’t until August, and my bridesmaids just sent out invites this week so I don’t know how it will work, hopefully people we be receptive to it!

It should work for the younger guests. Old ones may not understand it and just go to stores to get you something. We're not asking for gifts for our wedding but if we were we'd probably do the Amazon registry.

I'll admit, I've never tried it... but so many people I know order Amazon for everything. I think an option like that will make it super easy for your guests... and if you do a lot of Prime options, even better! Haha.

My dad is an Amazon nut... everything from toothpaste to household items to pet stuff to bottled water... If he just had to go online and click, click, gift, he might actually do a gift instead of his go to "cheque in card".
