How much did you or are you planning to spend on photographer?

Beah, on January 6, 2020 at 14:57 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14
The photographer I really want for our wedding their cheapest package is $1500. I’m curious how much did you spend on your photographer? This is ALOT of money for us but pictures are so important to me! The photographer will be the most expensive part of our wedding haha

We spent 6000 for photos and video for 14 hours for both. ask the company if you can do a custom package for less tell them your budget and what you want. if you can cut out some albums do that to bring the price down

We planned on 5000 for photo/video together, so 2500 each, but I found our amazing teams and got great deals on both! Spending 1995 on photo and 2300 on video and we get A LOT for those prices and the quality of the final products are amazing! So for us it's a lot of money but well worth the pricing

Originally 1200 then we saw how outlandish the prices were. Luckily we found some great who starts at 1400, but we’re doing her 1800 package. She actually just bumped her prices up too so we got very lucky.

Mine is 3500 but now I wish I would have looked around for other photographers because she isn’t even doing our reception because she’s a natural light photographer.

I have booked a photographer for $400 for full day coverage with unlimited edited pictures. It will only be her second summer shooting weddings, but her previous photos are very nice. For me, at the end of the day, to be happy all I really need is one or two nice photos to put on the wall. While it would be nice to have a huge album of beautiful pictures, to me it wasn't worth spending the extra money on. And who knows, I still could end up with a whole bunch of lovely photos for an album. Well worth the gamble for me.

We're a bit ridiculous with our budget but we really really wanted our photographers and they literally make magic happen so keep in mind I am by no way "the norm".

We're spending just over $7,000 for our engagement shoot (was about 2.5 hours), edited engagement photos (we got 300 of them), two shooters on the day of the wedding, over 1,000 edited wedding photos and an engraved USB containing our photographs.

We are paying $4000 for 8 hour coverage, engagement photos, 500+ USB & online gallery and $300 credit for prints. This was double than our initial budget, but once we really looked into photographers and what you get, and quality compared to price etc, it was worth it! Not a single bride or groom I have spoken to, has regretted spending more on photography!

I've learned from this site that prices really vary from location to location.
We were hoping to find someone between $1000 and $1500. After a lot of shopping I found a photographer with a deal for 6 hours of coverage for $1150, we negotiated and ended up with engagement photos and 4 hours of coverage plus travel for $1250. And if we want we can add an additional hour for about $150. We get digital edited images, no specific amount but we got 75 from our 1 hour engagement session so I'm not worried!
We were able to save because I don't want getting ready photos and our wedding is on a Friday evening so the whole "day" will be much shorter. My plan is to have her from 630-1030 with a first look and photos before our evening ceremony and some coverage of our reception.

Photography turned out to be way more expensive than I'd ever thought. My friend is a very talented second shooter for our photographer so I always wanted to go with them but we almost didn't when we heard the price. But they're going to last forever and I know we'd regret it if we didn't have nice photos. So we're paying $3500 for 8hrs, the second shooter, engagement photos, 3 prints, a USB with the entire collection of edited photos, and a printed album. $1500 is actually an awesome price, especially since BC prices seem to be way more expensive than Ontario!

FH and I allocated $2500 for photography because we wanted the full day captured from us getting ready to us leaving the venue, and FH is a photographer himself so we knew what we'd be looking at price wise for the quality and amount of time involved. In the end, because we're having our reception at a venue that has never hosted a wedding but they want to start advertising their space for weddings, they said that they'd pay for half the photographer if we allowed them to use some of our photos for that advertising. So we ended up going with the top tier package which was closer to $4000, plus I fell in love with the photographer and her work and she had the same kind of wedding as me so she knows exactly what I want out of the day and photos.

So if $1500 gets you everything you want then I'd say that's a steal! lol

Most that we looked at ranged from $1,200 - $2,500 so I would say that $1,500 is on the cheaper side of things tbh. We ended up going with a friend of mine that was able to give us a deal but otherwise we would have went with the cheapest option of $1,200. It's for sure worth looking around to see if you can find somebody who is less expensive but all in all this is the price tag on getting a photographer.

Perhaps you can try negotiating a price based on how many hours you need if you don't want/need the full 8 hours that most have base prices for?

I planned to spend $1000 or less on a photographer, but ended up booking one that was $2300, I decided that is the one thing I am going to have forever so it was worth the extra money and I went cheaper on some other vendors. If the roast beef is a little dry im not going to care in 20 years, but if I hate all of my pictures I will!
