How many Wedding Shows did you attend?

Vanessa, on January 9, 2018 at 20:13 Posted in Before the wedding 0 25

Hey Everyone,

Just wondering how many wedding shows you attended?

I attended 2 last year.....I want to go back to the wonderful wedding show in Winnipeg but my FH says that's one to many.

Did you find them useful for those who went? What did you find the most useful? The least useful? For those who didn't go do you regret going?

Would love some feedback.

I’ve only been to one so far but I have most things booked now anyways. There’s actually one happening today that I’m debating going to just so I can enter to win the free honeymoon! This ones a little different from the normal ones that happen here as well. It will likely have most of the same vendors but there’s a band playing and they’re serving finger foods and have a cash bar.

I’m going to one this weekend with MOH #1, sister and mom, and another in 2 weeks with MOH#2. I plan to go to as many as I can to try and win the free stuff 😉

It was pretty lucky. We don't love our rings we won but we decided we can upgrade our rings in a few years if we wanted to. For now we take what we can get and the larger ring budget we had ($1,000) can be put towards other things like decorations.

That's awesome for winning your rings. There was only 1 vendor for rings at the last wedding show we went too and the last wedding show none. My FH is going to need a custom ring as they didn't have a ring fitter that was big enough for him. I have to get a custom ring made to fit my wedding ring. I just want something simpler as my engagement ring is already out of this world.

That is so neat that you got your engagement shoot at the Calgary Zoo. I haven't been there since I was little. Last time we went to Calgary on our way to BC in the middle of August it was like 4 degrees and raining and we decided to skip it luckily we beat the snow storm that closed down the highways to BC but sadly missed the zoo. My dream spot I was able to have our engagement photos done was in my own backyard which I will be moving this year and the barn was still standing. Would love to see how your photos turned out.

Sign up for all the draws. I signed up for a lot we won our wedding rings from one of the expos, paid shipping which came to $60 CAD for both. Compared to their original price of $300 each for the rings.

I attended about 3-4? I think. Went to one big one and the others were little ones that happened at casinos and small hotels. Big one went with myself, my MOH & bridesmaid and FH. Went to little one with my parents and another little with my mom, FMIL & FH. oh and I won A LOT of stuff from the draws that happen there.

It helped in a way we got a general idea of cost for some vendors without the hassle of phone calls or emails. Helped my FH and I narrow down venue wise where we would like it. I personally wanted my dream wedding at the Calgary Zoo but their price was WAY out of my price range so we crossed them off fast, which is nice as once I set my heart on something I get disappointed really easily. But we made up for it as we did the engagement shoot at the zoo instead.

We went to one wedding show in Orillia and wasn't having anything we were looking for in particular. Beat part is we didn't have to pay anything since they allow the wedding party to register for free.

Overall, i had everything i needed since the prices of the vendors were out of our budget.

I thought it was awesome to go to one with my bridesmaids because we enjoyed the day together visiting all the tables and trying all the photobooths. The fashion show was neat. You should go to one to take it all in and enjoy being engaged. There is another one coming up but I don't think it will be useful for me to go. It is a lot of the same vendors again and I have found most of my vendors on my own by looking online and doing research.

I totally agree! I don’t need a photographer, officiant or wedding planner from Calgary, when I’m getting married in Ottawa!
I don’t feel the need to go to any of them for that reason. Plus, I went to one a while back (with a friend) and it was just too crowded for me to relax and/or enjoy.

I went to one, but had all my main vendors booked already, so I felt like it was pretty pointless.

    I also found EVERYONE expensive.

I went to one and didn't find it useful.

I am getting married in BC and attended a show in Calgary, where I live. It's good if you are getting married where the show is held, and if you are looking for vendors. We already had all of ours chosen as well.

Those sound better than the local ones. Everyone says I'm crazy to go back. One I went to was primarily photographers and almost all were booked for my day. Wasn't really impressed for that day. The free stuff and the draws are always exciting.

I just went to one over the weekend, it’s was the Canada’s Bridal show in Toronto and there were tons of vendors! I didn’t booked anything there but I did win a free videographer! Whoowooowooo! I am going to another in February, the National bridal show.

I went to one back when I was engaged. I didn't book any vendors there so I suppose it wasn't very useful in that sense, but it was interesting and pretty fun and I did win a door prize, they often have great giveaways!

I’m going to my first one in a few weeks. I have most of my big things booked already so I feel like it’ll be more beneficial to my friends who are newly engaged and don’t have as much booked.

I went to one and to be honest did not find it as useful as I thought I would. I also found that going to a wedding show is not for a budget conscious bride. I did get a lot of inspiration though and it really set the excitement going.

I've been to quite a few but that's also because I modeled wedding dresses in them. For the first few we found them useful but after that not so much because we had the majority of our wedding planned by that time.

I went to 1. One of my bridesmaids recently got engaged so if she wants to go to one, I would go with her. I didn't find it super helpful. I was expecting more decor ideas, which is how it was when I went with a friend five years ago in Ontario. The only good thing is that I won gift certificates to a bbq caterer, which we are using for our rehearsal dinner.

Honestly I've never been to any! They sound fun! But I feel like since I have most of my stuff booked that vendors there won't treat me the same if that makes sense? Lol
