How many venues did you visit in person?

Lynnie, on December 5, 2018 at 19:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 20

Your wedding venue is one of the biggest and earliest decisions you make!! How many venues did you visit before you found "the one"? Or if you haven't booked your venue yet - how many venues have you visited so far?

I can't remember the exact number, but I think it was around 7 or 8. I visited almost every venue within a 15 minute drive of our home that would return my calls and was within budget.

We were going to visit three, but cancelled the third visit as we both really liked the second venue a lot.

My fiancé and I visited two in person: the second venue we visited ended up being "the one." We had another visit scheduled afterward, but canceled as we knew it wouldn't compare (and to get it to the level of the venue we fell for would require a lot of work and money).

We looked at several online prior to, though.

We visited 2. The first one was a beautiful farmhouse bed and breakfast...but the visit was AWFUL. She said we can come in the morning to view it once it was all decorated for a wedding that was happening that afternoon. So we arrived and knock on the door but no answer.. after about 15 minutes a man on a farm trailer pulls up (her husband) and he tells us she at the salon getting her hair and nails done. So he calls her and she said she was just finishing up and will be back in 15. So he said we can explore their beautiful garden and huge property which was full of trees, plants and beautiful decor. So we did that..and we then realized it had been almost 45 minutes and she was still not back and he had now left too. So we also left and clearly didn't book. She didn't even email me back to apologize or anything..

The second place we visited was the most beautiful and perfect barn, I fell in love when I saw it online and knew we had to get married there. We loved the owner, she was incredible! That is the venue we booked! No regrets at all!!

We got super lucky... I'd been self-researching prices/venues for years (wedding planning class, cousin's wedding, sister's wedding)... So I had a LOT of knowledge about it... but it was actually a girl I work with who said "Hey you should check out this place, I can't remember the name"... And proceeded to find out for me. My FH and I clicked through some photos/prices... but we only went to see this one venue. As soon as we drove up there, we knew, and when we walked in, it secured it. Ceremony and reception in one building, ceremony downstairs in a long, narrow room with floor to ceiling windows & a stone fireplace... reception upstairs with floor to ceiling windows, stone fireplace, wood beams, and permanent fairy lights wrapped around them.

It's all on top of a mountain, with stunning views. It's going to be magical!

Oh, and the food there is amazing, so, you know. AWESOME.

We (okay, I) visited three, and when I found the one I really liked, I brought him to see it. That was the one we ended up going with.

Reception. 5 venues visited. 2 more spoken to via email/phone (as I have previously been to events there).

ceremony. technically only 1 visited. we were deciding between where our reception is, an outdoor park or then the old courthouse/hall we ended up picking.

We visited 3 but had tons of conversations with more. Thankfully we found the perfect venue at venue #4!

We only visited 1 venue. I had researched a few venues and had a list of ones that I thought could be potentials. Our chosen venue was the one I liked the best from the computer research, and it was the closest one to where we live, so we decided to visit it first. We fell in love with it and decided that we didn't need to look at any more venues.

Technically, 2. I visited one in Thunder Bay when we weren’t too sure where we were getting married yet. The second one was our London venue that we went with after making the decision to get married there

For our reception we only went to one and fell in love. For the ceremony we looked at 2 before making a decision.

We had to schedule our site visits during the holidays, which wasn't the greatest, but it was the only time we were going to be back in our hometown!

We had 2 venues to checkout in one afternoon. 1) was a pub, really nice backyard/patio with a very rustic feel, but their menu wasn't structured enough just thinking about all of the possibilities nearly gave me a panic attack! 2) is a vineyard/sugar shack in the middle of the Gatineau park. It's pretty secluded and just felt right for us.

We flew back after xmas and booked our date shortly after the new year!!

Wow, we visited about eight venues - we loved the one we picked but were hoping to fall in love with something that would be a bit closer for his elderly mother to travel to.

2! The first venue we visited was my top choice and fell in love as soon as we walked through everything.
I was seriously considering cancelling the appointment to see the second one but decided to go just to compare and it didn’t come close to the first choice

Two! We went with the second one... not a good vibe from the coordinator at our first choice despite it being an absolutely beautiful venue!

In total we visited 5 venues over a long weekend. Our venue was the 2nd visit, and quickly became the front runner.

I was was very disappointed that my initial 1st choice (the first visit) wasn’t a good fit, but we we were both relieved once we toured the next stop of the day.

Only 1. We had a lot of issues with some of them getting back to us but our venue has always been quick to respond (The longest we waited was like two days when they were off and all our communication was through email) the place was stunning and it ended up being a better price than we anticipated, Ive heard nothing bad about the food and it’s less than a five minute drive from my parents’ house where I’m getting ready so we booked it!
