How many people did you take along dress shopping?

Hi everyone! How many people did you, or do you plan to, take along when you're going dress shopping? Who are you taking with you? And as a bonus, how many different stores did you go to and did you take along the same people? Did you visit multiple stores in a day?

Kids are the best at being unbelievably honest with these situations! Love that she helped you pick your dress.

I only did one day of shopping! I only took my mom and my niece as for me it would have been overwhelming to have a large group. I brought my future mother in law and my FH grandma when I had my first fitting. For me it was the most ideal experience.

I went to five stores. Was about to call it quits for the day when we happened upon one last store and that’s where I found my dress.

I went to one store and didn’t even expect to find a dress. I brought my step mom, my MIL, my grandma and my sister. It was the perfect amount of people. And after quite a few dresses I found the one!

    Hi Lydia!

I've gone to multiple stores, one an evening, each time I take different people, my mom is the only consistent person.

I have a lot of close family members and friends, and my FH's side of the family that want to be involved with the process so I try to include 3 people at each visit!

I've heard people have visited multiple stores in one day, but personally for me that's quite overwhelming so I just stick to one a day.

Good luck hunting for your dress! Smiley smile

I went to one dress store, found my dress right away since I already knew it was the one, lol. I took five people with me (my mom, step mom, FMIL, FSIL and MOH).

I visited 2 bridal salons/boutiques (David's Bridal and a local boutique), and I took 1 friend with me.

This might sound terrible but, I am glad that my mom wasn't part of the process, as she would've taken over. Since I live across the country from my family, I simply fed my mom pictures of my top 3 picks and told her which one I was leaning towards.

Thanks! That must have been a bit scary going by yourself :o but it does sound like a good idea, I have the same as you I have no idea really what I want haha. Im sure that makes it way harder with shopping
Glad to hear you found the right one together with your aunt Smiley smile I really want to get my dress with my dad, but I will only have a very short time for that as well, probably just a day, since we're only going to the Netherlands (where my parents live) for a very short time around Christmas

I started my dress shopping process this past Saturday! I took my mom and sister, and we visited 3 shops in one day. Now that I’ve been through that, I think I’ll either do the next trips solo or just with one of them (it’s very difficult to coordinate our days off).

I went to a lot of stores. with different people each trip. For me. I was really unsure of what I wanted style/fit/material for a dress. so I just wanted to try everything on. I called them "homework" trips. A big reason I was waiting too is that I wanted my aunt there with me (her and my uncle are taking on my "parent" role as mine are gone). My first store I went to. I went with 3 friends. tried all kinds on. I went to a store with my best friend 2 months later. I went with my FMIL since she was visiting from out of country (I wanted her involved). and I went to a store on my own too.

then the weekend that I was meeting up with my aunt. The day before I went to a store with my good friend/bridesmaid. and I had 2 back up dresses there in case the morning with my aunt was a bust. On the day I said yes. I had my aunt and 2 cousins (my aunt won't drive on the highway. they brought her. and they are like my sisters), one of my bridesmaids and then a good family friend.

For me. the most important thing was having my aunt there. the other people made it great too as they were always honest with me. But I wanted this experience with my aunt. and she was just as excited to come with me. I wasn't picking a dress without her.

Don't be afraid to go on your own. it can be overwhelming with a lot of people. I've watched it happen with friends. and be cautious who you take if you do take anyone. you don't want someone that will just say everything looks good and not give some honest opinions. but you also don't want anyone overly critical/negative either.

My first appointment is on the 20th so I mean - if I find it then I find it but if not I will search as many as probably 5 stores before giving up Smiley tongue lol jk you should look until you find one but don't try on dozens of dresses - try and narrow it down at the first appointment.

My entourage will be my Dad, Mom, Sister (MOH), and my FMIL. - the first place I will be going (The Perfect Gown WPG) has a limit of 5 so I will probably just keep it at that. The main people I want at the appointment would be my mom and dad but mostly my dad so I would even be willing to go with just him. (Me and my mom don't have the same taste and my dad's mom was a seamstress so he knows more anyway haha.)

The first time I went it was just me and one of my bridesmaids going to David's Bridal!
Second time it was me, mom, MIL and all my bridesmaids to David's bridal!
Third I went by myself to a small boutique just by myself. Fourth was another small boutique in Toronto with one bridesmaid.
Fifth and final time was both moms and all my girls to Kleinfeld and that's where I ended up finding my dress!!!

For sure dont be scared to go alone to a store! It helped me SOOOO MUCH to really focus on what I wanted and less on just focusing on what the others thought!
