Hi beautiful brides Smiley heart

Your parents must be so proud that you two are getting married!! I'm sure they want to invite at least a few people to celebrate! Smiley smile

Did they make you add anyone to your guest list?

I would say my mom added ten guests to our lists.

We had a few issues. I went over the guest list with my mom before we sent out Save the Dates and she didn't want to add anyone at that time and then of course afterwards she's like "You should have invited this person" and I was like why didn't you mention anything when I asked you if I was missing anything and her excuse was that I'm not easy to talk to. (Not sure what else I could have done since I did ask for her input before we sent everything out.) My parents are separated and we don't speak to my dad and my mom made some comments about who she was going to bring as plus one. (which we hadn't planned on) She kept making offhand comments about bringing this person or that person so one day when we were discussing wedding planning and I brought it up to her and said that I wanted to seriously discuss it. I asked her if she did sincerely want to brinig someone because if she did, we'd need to plan for it and she was like "I don't think who I bring as my date is any of your business" and I had to be like "Well it is my business because it's our wedding and we're paying for it and I wouldn't appreciate you bringing someone I don't know as your date to my wedding." She's not bringing someone in the end but I didn't appreciate the comment.

She also wanted to add a few of her friends who are local that I don't know and I ended up just caving in rather than fighting over it because we ended up with less people than we were expecting. It's just very frustrating because we made the guest list 2 years ago and had already sent out the invitations and it's like just because you've reconnected with this person doesn't mean that they need to come to my wedding because they happen to live in the town where our wedding is.

My parents respect that it is our wedding and have not requested to add anybody to the list! My mom gave me a list of family as I don't know all my second cousins and other extended family! Based off of that list I chose who will be coming and who wont be. Anybody my parents would probably choose to invite are likely already on the list!

Both my parents and FFIL had a few people they wanted to add, and since they are helping pay we absolutely made room! FFIL had a friend of his invite themselves (like by saying, Oh we can’t wait to come to the wedding!). I thought that was incredibly rude and presumptuous seeing as I’ve never even met them, but FFIL was so excited (even offered to give us more to cover their dinner) and he has been so wonderful and supportive I just couldn’t deny him.

My mom wanted to add people I left off due to some family drama, but I ultimately let it happen, since her request was reasonable

There are two couples my parents have asked us to include who are not family. Happy to invite them as they have been close to my family my whole life.

FH's dad only requested one person be added to the list- his partner from when he was a police officer.
