I would suggest to have a talk with your fiancee before taking on the responsibility of planning a wedding. Maybe he does not know how to bring it up or has some concerns, like costs and budget. If you are not in a rush to get married, then I wouldn't worry too much about jumping into planning but if you have waited a year and are now getting restless with the idea that there has been no wedding talk, then simply sit down one night and gather ideas; big or small- its still something!

Have a talk with your fiancé about what's bothering you and aim to set a general date and begin planning around that. I can understand why you'd be frusterated that nothing has happened (planning-wise).

    Hi Brittany!
The duration of your engagement vary's on many things. If you are wanting to have this done sooner, make sure he is aware of that and get the planning ball moving. Maybe he is waiting for you to take charge of the planning? Sounds like you guys need to sit down and discuss everything.

Hi Brittany! Engagement lengths can vary due to a ton of different factors. When was the last time you guys had a discussion about the wedding? Maybe try to set aside some time to talk about what you both want and envision, and when you'd like to set the date?

The time of the engagement depends on many things. I've been engaged for 2 yrs now. The reason for the delay is that both of us have not recieved our final divorce decrees. We postponed the wedding back in October because my dad was battling stage 4 cancer. My dad passed at the end of November but myself, my mom and my sister aren't coping well. We decided to move the wedding to November. So there are a lot of things that can hold up a wedding. Don't worry sweetie!
