How did you pick your wedding ring?

Morgane, on April 17, 2018 at 20:47 Posted in Before the wedding 0 25
Here is my dilema- my engagement ring is oval and vintage. I really don't want to get a wedding band welded onto it and I'm worried that an extra diamond band around it will make it look too chunky (i have small hands). I've been searching on pinterest but I cannot find a style that would go with it. Anyone have any suggestions???

I agree, go to a jeweler, they have experience and knowledge and very many options to choose from. Some times your mind can't really picture how things will look together until you try it on. We went this past weekend to buy ours and I ended up buying something I never would've thought of.

Have you looked at or tried on any gap bands? A simple gold band with a gap might not distract too much from your engagement ring (and it may prevent it from damaging it too).

Ah I see that is a tricky dilemma, I would want to the same look at you - not too chunky looking. You didn’t like the gold band still to big? Maybe a tattoo? Lol I kid!

I've tried some on. They have mostly all been on the big side for my liking. That is also where the welding of rings came up- a jeweler told me that I would be damaging my ring by having a loose band rubbing up against it

I had a similar dilemma. I decided just I not think too much about it. My engagement ring has an oval opal with a yellow gold band, and I bought a rose gold band with diamonds. I just plan on wearing the band all the time after I'm married and just wear the engagement ring with it on special occasions Smiley smile I already take it of to do most household things. Here is a picture of the band. It is an easier style to stack so that helps too.

Go and try on some in the store. I’m having the same issue with my ring. Honestly you won’t know until you look at it with it.

Hi Morgane! I also think a think simple gold band would compliment your engagement ring perfectly!! Smiley ring

I also strongly suggest going to a local jeweler's to try on wedding bands in person! It's hard to get a sense of how everything will look together unless you actually see it together on your hand Smiley shame

I would choose either a simple gold band or something that complements the shape of your ring.

I agree with this! A simple gold band you can get to custom fit around your engagement ring would look amazing! And you don't want to distract from the beauty that is that ring omg!!!

My fiance picked a ring for me that comes with a matching wedding band so we were lucky there!

My ring is quite similar to yours - I ended up finding a lovely, thinner, band that complemented the ring. When I was shopping I made sure to ask to see any and all contoured bands. I ended up with a band with small pave diamonds in it so as not to compete with the channel diamonds in my engagement ring. What I love is that I know no other bride will have the same set as mine Smiley smile

My ring is an oval shaped oval, so it was also tricky. I considered not getting a band at all, but it was important to my partner. I ended up getting a super thin, plain band custom made to fit it perfectly. Definitely consider looking into that if you don’t want to add bulk or extra bling.

I had the same problem. I have small hands! Ring size is a 4! And I don't have alot of space on my finger! I had a wedding band custom designed to go with my engagement ring exactly. What I love about my wedding band is it actually makes the center stone stand out more!!! I think the thinnest you can make the ring is 1.8mm, so you could make something very modest to go with it and it would be designed for your ring specifically. Also you could wear your wedding band on your other hand! There really are no rules !!! It's what you are comfortable with. Lastly, you could not have a wedding band at all! He can just put the engagement ring on your finger again at your ceremony. Hope this helps!

Have you gone in to try any on with it? You might be surprised with what you like. I’d say a gold band would definitely go and not make it look too chunky as you’re worried about but doesn’t hurt to try on a few different styles and see. Smiley smile

A simple wedding band would look very nice beside your ring. You could do a style similar to this below but a plain solid gold band

I think your best bet is to go into the stores and try things on together. It'll help you get a sense for what works and what doesn't and then you can narrow it down a bit more. Gorgeous ring by the way, I love the blue!

Sometimes women who are attracted to vintage engagement rings worry about how these unique rings from the past will pair with a modern wedding ring.

Try something like this (see below). Just my 2 cents.

I think just a plain gold band would be beautiful. You don't want to take away from the beauty of the ring.

I'd suggest just a plain gold band. That way it doesn't take away from the beautiful engagement ring.
