How did you pick your flowers?

Rayanne, on May 2, 2022 at 15:46 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 28
I knew from the beginning I had zero desire for fresh flowers when we started planning the wedding. Allergies definitely dictated that we'd go with artificial but there are so many types of artificial. I found sola flowers and I was sold right away. I love that I can dye the flowers any colour I want to match my wedding. They look so natural to me. Plus I found one of the flowers was called "Elizabeth" which was my grandmother's name and she had passed away just before I started really planning. Also, nice thing with fake flowers you don't have to worry about what is in season either.

How did everyone else decide what kinds of flowers you will get? Did you base it on what is in season at the time and what colours you will be using? Did you have a certain flower that was a must have in your bouquet or boutineer? Is there a sentimental reason for the flowers you chose? Do you even know the types of flowers you'll have or is it more a style that you are going for?

The whole wedding was neutral of black and white which the white floral ball made it easy to decide to make the look finish as a grand look. Easy on the budget and elegantly simple to just adore.

At first, we realized how expensive having real flowers were. Then we were thinking about going with the colours (burgundy and white) with some greenery. But everything was too expensive when we were looking at floral shop. So I did a bulk buy in white roses at Costco. Then baby breath and ruscus from other floral shop. This idea was based on our centrepieces of having 3 wine bottles with a rose, ruscus and baby breath in each bottles.

😳 Wow that is insane! I spent $200 on a thousand flowers. Even with paint and wires I'm only at around $400 for centerpieces, boutineers, bouquets, corsages and the welcome sign.

I have found the exact opposite in my planning- fresh has been cheaper....

We have a very small floral order- 4 bouquets and 3 maybe 4 boutonnieres- fresh flowers including 2 arrangements for the ceremony $1200 and for artificial flowers $1350 without the ceremony arrangements...

I knew that I wanted Cali Lilies from the very beginning for my bouquet and Hydrangeas for centerpieces but that was pretty much it. Since we have gone the artificial route, we were able to pick pretty much any flower we wanted. Told the florists our wedding colors and then she went to work!

I had no desire for fresh flowers as well, too expensive and they pretty much die fast. I went with artificial flowers and I purchased them on Amazon, I love DIY, so I will be using these for my bouquet, bridesmaids' bouquets, and centerpieces.

I found a florist in my budget and told her our colors and sent her a few inspo pictures but I really don't care about flowers so I'm giving her a lot of creative freedom. I don't even known what flowers will be in my bouquet. I'm really excited to see what she creates!

Oh I think I've seen a post of yours with them.
At this point in my life I feel I don't necessarily need a lot for my day or to spend a lot I'd rather spend money on an epic honeymoon!!!!

I will have real for my bouquet, girls are carrying lanterns. Haven't given much thought to boutineers, FH says he doesn't care. Anywhere else I will probably use artificial

I love flowers (used to work in landscaping) but am not picky about the type. We are getting our flowers from a local flower farm. They will be making the bouquets, boutonnières and ceremony arrangements. We will be using their DIY buckets for bud vase centrepieces.

We chose a fall colour palette and will having in season flowers such as dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, lisianthus and more!

When I first started planning I wanted real florals but they were too expensive so i opted for artificial. And I had a completely different vision of only wanting white roses and eucalyptus but now I have found a florist with in my budget! I get to have all the centrepieces I wanted, bouquets and florals for our arch! So I’m very excited! And I ended up changing my vision to more orange colours and roses to match the fall vibe of my wedding!
