How did you ask your wedding party?

Lynnie, on July 9, 2018 at 15:59 Posted in Before the wedding 0 16

How did you ask your friends and family to be a part of your wedding party?

Did you keep it casual? Make an elaborate gift? Include a heartfelt note? Smiley heart

Kept it real simple! Asked my friend over for dinner and then asked her. Went for tea with a bridesmaid and asked. Skyped with another friend and asked. DH just called his friends and brother.

I kept it simple. I got little boxes, filled them with confetti and stuck a ring pop in there. There was a note in there too asking them to share in my special day!

For the boys we got each of them a cigar and attached a note asking them to it!

I'm glad we didnt go overboard - I feel like these bridal party proposals are getting CRAZY.

I did the box of goodies and pamper stuff for each of the girls and inside I had a printed picture of each of us with a message on it asking if they will be my brdiesmaid and maid of honor. We met up at a mcdonalds and gave it to them- i know classy! Before we went for my first dress shopping.

My original maid of honour knew it was coming, so I was going to include a card that said "I have a question for you..." Then when you open it up it says "Now try and act surprised and like you didn't see this coming". I thought it was cute, and probably relevant to many redundant "MOH proposals" with sisters or best friends, haha.

She was going to be my Matron of Honour, but we since had a falling out *oops*... but I had also asked my sister to be a Maid of Honour... and it was kind of hilarious... she started talking about being a bridesmaid (before I'd asked), and I said, "Niki, you're not going to be a bridesmaid", and she got all defensive... "Well, okay, whatever, anyways..." And I said, "No, Niki, you're not going to be a bridesmaid cus I want you to be my Maid of Honour"... and she just got super teary and squeaked out "Really?"... It was so cute. She went from heart crushing rejection to best case scenario in 30 seconds. Haha.

My FH just asked his guys. most in person. one by text (he lives in the states).
I bought knot bracelets from amazon and then each a different card from zazzle asking them to help me tie the knot.
way cheesy. but I loved it.
for our niece and nephew. did a little more. had a customized bracelet made for our niece (she never finds anything with her name on it). and then a ring bearer book for our nephew.

The only person I sort of asked was my sister to be my MOH, and that was super casual. I plan to re-ask her properly soon.

We just straight asked the people we knew we wanted without giving anything as a gift except the day of the wedding.

That's pretty hilarious haha. My mom sent me a photo of bridesmaids in what looked to be dresses made out of yellow floral curtains from the 70s, with big ruffles... she told me it would look great Smiley xd

Love that card. I live in a different province than the rest of my crew, so I just asked everyone over fb messenger. I will probably have a little party with them to make it official when I'm in town next. Smiley smile

Mine all live overseas so I messaged mine over Facebook. I think my wording was “hey, wanna wear an ugly dress at the wedding? I hear butt bows are coming back into fashion.” 😋

I have yet to ask mine as I don't have the list complete just yet. But so far I have pink baseball caps that say SQUAD on them (I have a white one that says BRIDE), some stickers for wine bottles or whatever they fancy that asks the question of "I've got my guy, but I need my girls. Be my bridesmaid?", and of course the alcohol as well. When I pick who to give them to then I will post a pic Smiley smile

I made my girls stemless wine glasses that said "Bridesmaid" (or Maid of Honour) on one side, with their initial on the other side. There was a note inside that said:

How did you ask your wedding party? 4

My girls all have a good sense of humour, so it was funny for them. I didn't get to send one to my best friend in Toronto, so I showed it to her on Skype.
